Something I've wanted to address - Restarting the economy, as the president is advocating (among others), isn't as simple as it sounds in theory. Most economists are in agreement that restoring the economy has to be done through a lens of restoring public health and trust. People are not going to flock to malls when they re-open. Consumer confidence is going to be low. Many, many layers of nuance to the idea exist. It's going to be interesting to see how the public responds when malls, restaurants, etc, open up again. I actually think they will flock to the malls, restaurants, etc.... I think people are chomping at the bit to get back to as much normalcy as possible. We shall see. |

And this is extremely problematic. Something I referenced before with regards to vaccine technology. Removing the head of BARDA because he disagreed with the implementation of an unproven drug that the White House touted as a gamechanger during the height of this crisis is a serious problem. Hey, did you copy and paste that tweet? Because according to the board authority, it's against the rules. 😕 That guy sure has a nice haircut. The rest of us have to go around looking like Barbarians. From the reading, one could say that really sick patients that are late in their struggle with Covid (as were those in this group) may not be salvageable by anything other than their own will to live (so to speak). The question of how much to give and when to give it is salient and, true, that info might come with clinical trials. But it is absolutely TDS to bash the drug for use because the Orange Man referred to its reported favorable results in a briefing. Hydroxychloriquine is not a cure for Covid but helps many recover quicker (reported widely). (https://www.mdmag.com/medical-news/hydroxychloroquine-speeds-covid19-recovery-placebo for example). It is absolutely TDS, however, when Michigan Democrats, for example, censures a Dem politician who gave credit to Trump for advocating for the drug when she felt it's use changed the course of her sickness. Do we know how many Americans are committing suicide (above previous rates) because of the isolation and depression brought about the lockdowns? Do we know how many people have likely lost their jobs permanently (with no job waiting even after a reopening of the economy)?
