people think its a joke now, it wont be if we continue on this course and conventions and other events are cancelled. so you might not be over the age of 50 and somehow think you are immune, there is a trickle down effect...people call in from work, for the slightest symptoms, now your working twice as hard. God forbid you get it...you may not die, but you will be quarantined for months. as i told the owner of my company ( a die hard Trump fan and virus denier) , you may not give two shits now, but if this spreads as fast as the common flu, productivity will come to a screeching halt.

Listen to Ben Carson's comments- he thinks this is overblown, and politically motivated. Gee shocking, that never happens with our news...

I think the point is your are correct not to fear the disease from the standpoint of getting it and dying. However, you should fear what this might do to the economy. They just announced they are moving the new James Bond movie scheduled to open in April to November, because of the fear of the virus. The expectation from the studio is that people are not going to go to movies in a month when this fully spreads. They are cancelling conventions in the Seattle area right now. The Seattle markets are like a ghost town right now. That is the danger. People not going out, not going to movies, not going to concerts, shows, baseball games, stores, RESTAURANTS. That will have a massive negative effect on the economy. People will start getting laid off and it goes from there.

[b yea, why listen to the news when you can just listen to 45 who said "you can go to work with mild coronavirus symptoms"...how smart is that? Yeah that's actually not what he said, but I'm sure plenty of headlines spinned it and that's what you read. He said its likely people go to work with mild cases of this thing and get better without realizing they have it, he didn't say people SHOULD go to work with it. This is why people think coronavirus is a nothingburger. The media lies so much due to political motivation that its like the boy who cried wolf. They cant even take a step back during a pandemic and take a breather from breathlessly trying to make this about Trump. He's right too, there are likely tens of thousands of mild cases of the virus that we haven't detected. The thing seems to mutate rapidly which usually changes some level of its contagiousness or deadliness. We obviously cant control it completely and our government is trying to walk a fine line of not letting everyone needlessly panic and doing what they can (which isn't much because the government isn't God)

After thinking about what I originally typed I figured it would be best if I took a more civil approach. First, nobody cares about your political views. This is a sports board dedicated to all things Aztec. There is a separate board for you to post your political views. Second, when you use quotation marks it implies that those words were actually spoken. You might want to double check your work. You might want to check the context as well. Thanks. Have a nice day.

I live and work in the Seattle area. I was stuck in the usual traffic getting to the city yesterday, could not find parking (as usual), walked around Westlake and was surrounded by the normal massive throng of people crushed together there. Later I was in Pioneer Square (a genuine cesspool of humanity and the right place to avoid during a plague) and it was very much the same. Seattle and King County are run by morons, but the city is no ghost town.

He has literally zero experience for the job he was put in. Let's see, the guy was a pediatric neurosurgeon who pioneered many new procedures including separating conjoined twins while they were still in the womb. Some stooge. He has more than enough intelligence to be the HUD secretary.

He has more than enough intelligence to be the HUD secretary. How does any of that experience relate to housing and urban development? He’d be good as surgeon general, not HUD secretary. He spoke before the Senate last year and barely knew what was going on in his department. There are plenty of very smart people in this country but that doesn’t make them qualified to do unrelated jobs.

This entire thread should have been quarantined on the first day. It has rarely been related to Aztec sports and has been a breeding ground for political swipes at both sides.
