How does Elizabeth Warren feel about the chop? Will this be a campaign issue for her?

Going to need rebounding from all 5 positions . Guards as well as the guys up front .
Is an incentive for any of the reserves to get more PT we need help on the boards and defending
we also need to find away to get to the FT more often - most of the starters are very good FT shooters but if you rely on your three point shot and not head to the basket hard to get the FT's . Believe Jordan is close to 90% , would be great if he could draw some fouls in addition to his three point shot .

I think the toughest game remaining on our regular season schedule is UNM for a couple reasons:
1) They are good- we have four tough road games left: UNLV, UNM, BSU, and Nevada. UNLV may have the second best conf. record of those 4, but Nevada is probably the toughest of the bunch. UNM & BSU are about even. Regardless, the toughest game left comes from these four.
2) They'll get a TON of calls- UNM lives on the line, moreso than anyone we've played so far this season, they are 5th in the nation in FTA%. Not only that but they are 23rd in DFTA%. No other team in the top 10 of FTA% is even in the top 50 for DFTA%. Now, mix this in with playing in the pit (or whatever they call it now) a place to have a notorious impact on refs, and you can almost guarantee we will get jobbed by the officials.
3) Short Rest- We get UNLV after 4 days off and being at home for a while, we go to Boise after 4 days off and a home game prior, we get Nevada after back to back easier home game. We get UNM on two days rest coming off a difficult road game in UNLV- Tough turn around.
Not saying we are a lock for any game, not saying the UNM game will be a loss or our closest (we could win by 20, sometimes the chips just fall that way). But all things considered it most likely will be our most difficult.

True, UNLV didn't play too well tonight, but it was against their Rival (and at Reno), and you don't believe they will play like that against us on Sunday do you? They will probably have even more desire to disrupt our game, and play to win. The one thing I do not look forward to is that horrific crowd yell they do: "Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeebels! Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeebels! Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeebels!" That is the worst and one of the most boring yells I've ever heard! I always thought they were demanding more Red Bulls.

Will worry about UNLV first - they are undefeated at home in MW - got 44 rebounds in their last game . An area we have trouble - plus we know Nathan is out and AG is game time decision at best . They draw a lot of fouls so we can not afford for Yanni or Matt to get in foul trouble . By the way Diong was 4 for 4 on FT's - Hamilton is still having problems at the FT line but is scoring well .
would guess their coach will give them a sound talking to after their last loss and they will be ready to play in front of a big loud crowd and give us our first loss and chance to beat #4 team

Part of that 44 rebounds was 18 Offensive ones. That's great but it's also because they shot terribly. 35% overall and 28% from 3. There were 77 rebounds in that game so neither team was shooting that well.

Without considering the opportunities it is useless information.

heard from Coach D - he had the same thoughts on UNLV 's strong rebounding - they are very good - even on the offensive end - they average 40 rebounds a game think we are at about 35 but have been slipping with out Nathan . Coaches would like to see all our 5 positions hitting the boards . Get second hand points on offense instead of UNLV getting transition points with fast break chances . Yes they also get a lot of FT's . They take the ball to the basket and draw fouls . per Dutcher we need to adjust part of our offense to get more FT's . We have 4 starters that have over 80% FT and think Jordan is up to 90% FT . Only Yanni is below 65% . . Your post reads like you are advocating sending five players to the offensive boards. Is that what you are advocating?

If we don't hit at least our normal percentage of Threes we could very well lose this game. We need to out shot them. We will probably give them extra chances via rebounding but get extra chances via turnover difference.

they get a lot of offensive rebounds so would say all of the guys need to be looking to rebound on defense to prevent them from getting second chance points .
We do need whom ever is playing the 4 position to be trying to rebound rather then looking for a three point shot . We have been getting beaten on the boards in recent games and could hurt us .
Know Malachi is known for his offense but he also seems to contribute on the boards also
For some of the reserves who are playing and trying to get more PT - great way is to help on the boards .

Matt Mitchell should look for open 3s. The Aztecs won't change their offensive rebounding methods. On defense they may send more players to the glass.

UNLV can get very streaky when it comes to 3 point shots, but the counterpoint is they don't have enough shooters that can make them. We do. On top of that our defense is good at causing turnovers. I don't see us out rebounding them no matter what we do, but the above factors should neutralize that aspect of the game.
I think the key is to maintain a double digit lead to put them in a panic mode as the game time winds down.

All we have to do is shoot 50% and 50% from 3. To Hell with rebounds. Let's go Junk Yawd Dawgs!
