We have a huge target on our chest and UNLV has some athletes on their team. I like what I see from Diong. We have the advantage in experience and we play better defense. They will be looking at a "nothing to lose everything to gain" game this weekend. If we stay out of foul trouble and we shoot near our average we should win. But, anything can happen - especially on the road.

We’d have to play a “C” game while an opponent played a near perfect A/A- game. I like our chances and LOVE this team. They’re very special.

That's great! Nevada handeling UNLV tonight, 86-72. So, you can bet the Rebels will have even more desire to hang a defeat on the Aztecs when they visit Las Vegas on Sunday! Should be one of the best games in conference so far this season! Definitely worth watching!

Ladies & gentlemen, now that the undefeated Aztec basketball team just got by Wyoming last night and is now 20-0 our next game is on the road in everyone's favorite town, Las Vegas! And, why did I put in the title as, "Toughest Game?" Easy. Because, UNLV is second only to us in the conference standings at 6-1, and the way they are playing right now is more like a badger protecting her babies! We already know what they did to Utah State last month, and the poor Aggies have still not recovered. Yes, we have been very fortunate playing in Las Vegas. We just won two games there over Thanksgiving, and we have won many games in the MW Tournament where it is like a second home to us. But, this is probably one of the best Rebel squads we have seen in about a decade or more. That is why I ask if this could be one of the toughest games for us so far? I know we had a last second, last shot victory over San Jose St. on Dec. 8th, but this team is considerably better than that Spartan team. And since they will be playing at home that makes our job even tougher. So, do we have enough firepower and determination to continue our win streak? We'll see on Sunday! Go Aztecs!!! UNLV is the anti-Nevada... They can’t shoot the three and they don’t defend the three well. They are fabulous OR team and overall rebounding team. They turn it over a ton and don’t create a lot of turnovers. A lot of their offense, like USU, comes from the line. In general they are just average on defense and offense and must rebound and get to the line in order to compete, but are super athletic... I feel like an older, smart team that can play defense and make shots should handle UNLV. Your description of UNLV was spot on watching the game tonight. They didn't shoot the 3 well or defend it. They outrebounded Nevada by 11. They turned it over 12 times and only forced 6 They took 25 FTs.

True, UNLV didn't play too well tonight, but it was against their Rival (and at Reno), and you don't believe they will play like that against us on Sunday do you? They will probably have even more desire to disrupt our game, and play to win. The one thing I do not look forward to is that horrific crowd yell they do: "Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeebels! Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeebels! Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeebels!" That is the worst and one of the most boring yells I've ever heard!

UNLV doesn’t defend the three at all.

UNLV doesn’t defend the three at all. Nor can they shoot it well.

To me, it always sounds like they're chanting "air ball...air ball... air ball...". Perhaps, that's what inspires their shooters!

There is NOTHING more annoying to me than the chant that goes with the tomahawk chop that the Atlanta Braves, KC Chiefs, and Florida state fans do. Comes across TV and radio in the most annoying way. It would be even worse, I'm sure, if I was Native American.

heard from Coach D - he had the same thoughts on UNLV 's strong rebounding - they are very good - even on the offensive end - they average 40 rebounds a game think we are at about 35 but have been slipping with out Nathan . Coaches would like to see all our 5 positions hitting the boards . Get second hand points on offense instead of UNLV getting transition points with fast break chances .
Yes they also get a lot of FT's . They take the ball to the basket and draw fouls . per Dutcher we need to adjust part of our offense to get more FT's . We have 4 starters that have over 80% FT and think Jordan is up to 90% FT . Only Yanni is below 65% . .

Have watched them and UNLV is tough on the boards. We were an average rebounding team with N Mensah, now we are mediocre at best. This will hurt us in the Tournament against the top teams. Hopefully Mensah will return to shore up the front line, otherwise, Narain and J Mensah need to play more and get up to speed. On a positive note, this year it is wide open as to who will make the Final Four, imo.

Sometimes you never know and a player can come out of nowhere to help us on the boards in a game. You are right about this being a wide open opportunity for any team that plays well to make the Final Four this season. And, the way we have been playing we are just as good as anyone to be able to make it! First, let's get by the Rebels! Go Aztecs!!!
