Baylor plays at Florida today in the B12-SEC challenge at 2:00 local time. Florida is capable of beating them and is actually favored by a bucket.
A Baylor loss combined with an Aztec victory tomorrow essentially moves the Aztecs to #3 in the polls.

Baylor beat Kansas in Kansas easy. Losing road game to a good Florida team IMO should not drop Baylor below Kansas (Baylor has better wins, less losses, a dominant win in Kansas head to Head). With ”the fight”, we may move ahead of Kansas without a Kansas loss as we should already be ahead of them. they lose players implies a degradation of their team play. I would have already had SDSU as 3, but if I did not and the margin was as small between 3 and 4 as it was (depicted in the ranking points), I would definitely have SDSU in front of Kansas now.

And this is what is so great about NET. If Kansas loses, even at home, to a middle-of-the-road Tennessee team, the pollsters will say it's because of missing two players from the brawl, even though they weren't starters. If Baylor loses on the road, the same pollsters will say that Florida is starting to play like their pre-season Top-Ten ratings and it's not that bad of a loss. They'll still have them up there.
But we're already ahead of those two in the most important category, NET, so who cares?

As Florida is favored, they would't be penalized much given their in-game performance as per the metrics (as heuschele alluded to). They may fall one spot. They may fall two, and while less likely, they most certainly could fall three. Unless you have a direct pipeline to all 65 AP voters and have advance knowledge of how they will vote (and please share if you do), then just how much Baylor will be penalized is an unknown, full stop.

NET is a great validator and is the primary metric the SC will rely upon for seeding in the tourney, but perception in the polls most certainly matters in terms of branding. For the majority of college basketball fans, more awareness is generated for our program by our ascension in the polls than our standing in NET, Massey, KenPom, et al.

Significant games today:
* Clemson @ (6) Louisville, 47-67 * Iowa St. @ (16) Auburn, 76-80 * (1) Baylor @ Florida * Tennessee @ (3) Kansas * (7) Dayton @ Richmond * Notre Dame @ (5) Florida St. * Pacific @ (2) Gonzaga
We need the top 10 teams to lose to help give us a margin for error when it comes to Tournament seeding.

BY Booooooooooooo. Fn zoobs about to lose to the Dons, fouling down a bucket with 4 seconds left. If I'm going to have to throw up in my mouth a little rooting for the zoobs for the sake of our resumé, the least they can do is not drop a game to teams they should beat.

That was a toss-up game between San Francisco (9-3 at home) and bywho (2 point road favorite and 2-4 road record). San Francisco was 14-7 and bywho was 15-6 going into that game meaning either team could have won. The WCC has 6 teams with overall winning records and 1 team at .500. In contrast, the MWC has 7 teams with overall winning records.
