Not that big step down. MWC is one horse race most years. Outside of BB other sports would fit fine. Just sayin. Spilt milk. It's a much weaker conference that would drag strength of schedule ratings even more than the MWC does... The Big West teams range from a best of 121 (NET rating) to a low of 322, with an average of 215.89 The Mountain West (not including us) ranges from a best of 51 to a low of 297, with an average of 167.1 At least the MWC has a couple of teams that have a chance to elbow their way into at large consideration. The BW is purely a 1-bid conference, period. The competition is just one argument. Not to mention that you're not even playing in real arenas. You're playing in basically what is a high school gymnasium. We have 10k+ seat legitimate basketball arenas. It's a completely different level than the MWC |

i think the AAC would take the Aztecs and either one other school from the West or maybe even 4 total and have us play in All Sports - with 2 Divisions West and East

Yes Lobos beat Houston Baptist and scored over 100 points with out them - Bragg has been playing very well averaging a double / double about 13 points and 11 rebounds a game .
Caldwell was very good PG but they also just added the transfer from Utah - the transfer guard from the Buckeyes J.Lyle is leading them in scoring and also gets numerous assists - they have a lot of talent if all their guys are playing

Think the AAC would have taken the Aztecs for all sports - if not then then shortly after when it added other schools . IMO would still look into it . Aztecs with 1 other school or maybe 4 max from the West area - would make the AAC truly a stronger conference They are better in both football and in basketball Getting back to Lobos Bragg ( double double guy) and Caldwell their true PG - have two separate issues that both "require review" . They also have added Utah transfer Vante Hendrix , guess he and J. Lyle ( SG transfer from the Buckeyes ) got into a " kerfuffle" during a game . Hendrix walking to the locker room during the first half then returning to the bench during the second half Do not think there is any update on how USU 's center NQ is doing Man, those kerfuffles will get you every time.  |

Most of the Lobo board seem to be preparing for the worst about Bragg and Caldwell. Vante Hendrix is either potentially a great transfer as their best on-ball defender and a passion for play. OR a bust because of a difficult academic past, being a very streaky shooter and having a history of apparent confrontations with coaches and fellow players.

There’s something on twitter that purports to know what’s happened: failed drug test for Bragg and domestic violence issue for Caldwell. “Inside sources” say Caldwell is gone for sure but Bragg may be coming back.

The speculation on the Lobo boards thought Bragg’s issue was weed and were mostly sure he’d be back. But the info from Univ of NM say it’s not a drug or academic issue and wasn’t the same as Caldwell’s assault complaint.
He transferred from Kansas to AZ State but didn’t stay and ended up at NM. I’m guessing it could be a booster or money thing. He’s their best player so his absence would really hurt them. They don’t have much other big men.
I know I should hope NM is good so it helps when we play them but I feel about them the way many on this board feel about BYU. I’d be fine if they lost every game.

The report states the woman “said (Caldwell) struck her in the face several times with an open hand … then grabbed her by both arms and pushed her up against a wall … then took his hands off her arms and applied them to her neck and strangled her.” She told police her airway was not obstructed, she never lost consciousness and the two then stopped fighting. She later left when Caldwell fell asleep, the report states.

Most of the Lobo board are calling out the girl for being the problem. It's interesting and disgusting to see people trying to intelligently rationalize violent behavior. Because she waited two days to go to the police, most of them don't believe her. Guarantee, their tune would be sung differently if he was a third-string guard averaging 1.3 pts a game.
These are the same morons who used to yell out vicious and mean things at Fisher in the Pit. I hope both kids are gone for the year, the team implodes and they lose every game.
