Any info on what triggered the suspensions? I get the feeling that their guard Caldwell has an academic issue since he was ruled academically ineligible at aTm. That may have followed him to UNM. Don't have any idea about Bragg though.

A couple supposedly "connected" guys on the Lobo board said that it looked like Caldwell was gone for good but no one was sure about Bragg. They said it may go back to something from this summer.

couple this at new mexico with the Queta injury at Utah State and that makes the AZTECS the new favorite to win the league and tournament championship. now the AZTECS need to take one game at a time as the focus is on cal poly.

I was counting on NM being top tier this year. We need a strong NM and UNLV in this conference. Beginning to wonder if that is ever going to happen.

Utah State is still a good team. Justin Bean has taken over well for Queta and is probably the main reason they have stayed good despite Queta's injury. The 6'7", 210 lb Sophomore is averaging 13.9 pts and 11.1 rebs after averaging 4.1 pts and 3.8 rebs last year. They play 9-10 guys too. They have that 4534 ft elevation going for them also.

They also had a player Tweet, "I hate this fake s**t" after the game, and two other players had an argument on the bench during the game. New Mexico really falling apart quickly.

Tell again why we shouldn't of stayed in AAC and farmed r Oly sports out? MWC SUCKS! We would only have been in the Big East (or the faction that formed the American Conference after the BE split) for football. If you'd recall, our basketball team would have most likely wound up in the Big West... hardly a step up from the MWC.

Outside of BB other sports would fit fine. Just sayin. Spilt milk.

The Big West teams range from a best of 121 (NET rating) to a low of 322, with an average of 215.89 The Mountain West (not including us) ranges from a best of 51 to a low of 297, with an average of 167.1 At least the MWC has a couple of teams that have a chance to elbow their way into at large consideration. The BW is purely a 1-bid conference, period.

I haven't looked it up, but I'm sure the answer would be something like none for the BW and quite a few for the MW.
It would be difficult for us to maintain our level of recruiting when almost all of our opponents are playing in gyms and not arenas.

Think the AAC would have taken the Aztecs for all sports - if not then then shortly after when it added other schools .
IMO would still look into it . Aztecs with 1 other school or maybe 4 max from the West area - would make the AAC truly a stronger conference
They are better in both football and in basketball
Getting back to Lobos Bragg ( double double guy) and Caldwell their true PG - have two separate issues that both "require review" . They also have added Utah transfer Vante Hendrix , guess he and J. Lyle ( SG transfer from the Buckeyes ) got into a " kerfuffle" during a game . Hendrix walking to the locker room during the first half then returning to the bench during the second half
Do not think there is any update on how USU 's center NQ is doing

But, the travel would be brutal! A few schools in Texas and the rest east of that. Even the Naval academy is in the "West" division.

If the Aztecs and either BSU or UNLV was added so the West had Houston , SMU , Tulsa , Memphis , Tulane , and the 2 schools from the West Move Navy to the East . Or could add 4 total schools from the West -
In Football play the 6 West schools and then 2 games with the East
Basketball can do home and away with West schools 12 games and then 4 road games( two groups of two road games say both Florida teams on a Thursday ?Sunday with East and 4 Home games with East Schools
For the other sports - can do home and away with the West and then have playoffs vs East or have X amount of games with East schools
Also many of the schools have major airports - so think they could make it work . They also have major markets . Better areas to recruit and National exposure for both the teams and players .

Everything else is spilt milk.
