Again, this was the first friggen drive so making the comment that running him in between the tackles "regularly" is just, plain laughable. Why don't you just cut your losses and watch the game? Running back have to be able to run between the tackles. Ever heard of Darren Sproles? Players can get hurt in this game. It happens all the time. Blaming what ever injury Byrd has on the OC just shows how little you know about football. Byrd is smaller than many high school backs. He makes Sproles look huge. Then he shouldn't be playing RB for a D1 school. Maybe we should make him just a 3rd down back. Only get him the ball outside where he can run out of bounds. Perhaps we can fit him with a "Tutu." You do realize that even big backs can suffer an ankle injury running anywhere on the field, not just in between the tackles, right? If you cannot attack the middle of a defense you make that defense's job much easier. |

Who put him in at RB? Who called for him to run up the middle into a bunch of guys who each have twice his mass? Those were decisions Horton made, and they got Byrd hurt. Do you really think Byrd is big enough or strong enough to run between the tackles regularly? I agree that you don't run Byrd up the middle. He's too fragile. Bell up the middle, and Byrd your change of pace, around the ends type of guy. Like a Darren Sproles. So, anytime you have Byrd in you are telegraphing that you are passing the ball, or at the very least, running it outside? |
