I really like what he does after the catch. He has that "it" factor. He's going to be fun to watch if we continue to get him the ball.

He was a big recruit for us. 3 star with a lot of P5 offers. Good to see him have a breakout game.

I knew he was big receiver I didn't realize how fast he is. UCLA has speed in their secondary but couldn't cover him and eventually double teamed him opening up Matthews and others.

Yes, that is what impressed me. He kept getting open, and he was having his way against the DB"s. I also liked what he did after the catch. He knows how to get upfield.

Very crisp routes, but Matthews highpoints and attacks the ball beautifully, natural receiver

It seemed like at one point, Kobe caught 2 passes, on back to back plays, in the same spot in the middle of the field..
I sure feels good to know that when they stack the box, we have a passing game that's effective enough to make them pay and even more if needed.

It's funny, but we've gone from having no significant threats at WR to now having two. Kobe Smith is a big threat receiver, and Jesse Matthews is a great possession receiver. They are complementary players. If we keep going down this path they could both have a big year!

I just looked at the depth chart for SMSU and Smith is listed at second team. Seems odd after last week's performance. Maybe it is a mistake and they didn't update it.

I don't know. Maybe it's a personal number to him, etc... It’s just really weird that the top WRs for a Division 1 program are #92, #96, and #45. Looks bad in my opinion

Looks bad in my opinion I know #45 is a number they give to walk ons, but I'm not sure of the reasoning for the numbers in the 90's. To me, it's not that weird.

The announcers commented on his number during the game. I recall them laughing about this being some sort of old-school Coach Long thing. Can't remember the reasoning because it was during the replay of the TD catch, and I was too psyched to pay much attention to the announcers' blather.

I didn't hear much from the announcers because of all the excitement during the game. I'm sure I didn't miss much from them.

Rocky was recently asked that question about both #45 Matthews and #92 Smith and he said something like (with that wry smile he gets), "I pull jerseys out of the box and they get what they get!". Gotta love Rocky!
