They lost their 2 best players. Their rise may be derailed, or at least curtailed. 6' 7", 205 lb Lamine Diane is still there. Averaged 25.6 PPG as a sophomore and 24.8 PPG as a freshman. I know he put his name in to the NBA draft, but I dont see that in the cards. Everything I've read sounds like he's long gone and fully committed. Plus, he was a academic casualty as a FR (it's why he sat 11 games this year), so not sure he's all that into school to begin with.

If he is gone too, CSUN is satrting from scratch, and Gottreid has some coaching to do. Diane is a two-time Big West Player of the Year applied to the NBA Draft. Including Gomez and Harkless, the Matadors have seven players in the transfer portal. Diane 6'7" 25.6 PPG to > NBA or G-League? Gomez 5'8" 19.8 PPG to > SDSU Harkness 6'5" 10.7 PPG to > Oaklahoma

They have a couple guys - Brookins should be healthy; Starks will be eligible, etc. But they're definitely a notch below UCI & UCSB, and probably always will be.
