Let's assume the development is built out in 15 years. First 3 years we're playing at the Q. The whole southeast portion of the parking lot is available. Assume the next 7 years we have the stadium plus a third of the site unbuilt with a graded pad for parking. So maybe in 10-15 years you might have to start worrying about parking. In 15 years there will be 5,000 spaces underground, 1,000 spots for high end donors and another probably 2-3,000 available for game day on the rest of the site. So start worrying about your parking 15 years from now. 15 years ago did anyone here think Uber was a possibility? Worry about getting enough votes to get the property first and don't worry about 15-20 years from now. Perfect analysis. I might be giving the boat man on the river styx two tokens for safe passage 15 years from now.

Not nearly enough tailgating spots...and a total of 6000 spots for a stadium that sized is horrible. Plan on paying $100 to park...otherwise have fun waiting for our s#!++y trolley system to get you in/out. Don't ever expect to see a 15,000 car parking lot again. Soccer City's parking wouldn't be any better I'm sure. Plenty of room to tailgate, just not next to your car, in the river park and around campus. If you have a solution, please share it with us. More parking spaces is the answer. We don't have a reliable public transportation system to move that many people into the area. Just where in the hell do they expect to park 30K people? There are no reasonably close areas to park and walk in, and the trolley is a joke. Also, maybe you bring a nice little picnic basket to your "tailgate", but that's not the case for most tailgaters.

Who gives a $#!+ about Petco...I'm talking about college football game day experience. I've never seen tailgating at baseball games like football games. Sitting in a high priced restaurant waiting forever to get food/drinks is not the collegiate experience. Lighten up. It was a legitimate question. Tailgate Park also has 1,000 spaces. And no RV's allowed, which I assume would be the case at a new Aztec Stadium. It will be interesting how parking will be handled, but parking will definitely be at a premium. I'm not trying to be a jerk to you...but comparing college football game day to baseball with 180+ games a year is like apples to skyscrapers. And tailgating is MY issue, but when people have to go to extraordinary lengths to get to the game, will anyone come? ESPECIALLY when we're still in the mgc? Trolley parking lots are small...trolley lines after games are asinine...I can tell you that there is no way they will have enough amenities outside the stadium to support 30K fans coming to the game.

The first priority will be for construction equipment, supplies, etc...then they will be building on that land WAY before the stadium is done.

There will be plenty of spots to tailgate on that campus. You may not be able to do so next to the stadium but you'll be able to have a nice grassy area to do so. Now imagine how much revenue the school will bring in from those 1,000 tailgate spots next to the stadium versus what we are bringing in from parking now...

I don't know how SDSU will deal with the parking issues, but they have at least a few years to figure it out. But I suspect that the days of tailgating with 40' motorhomes are numbered.

I dream of a day when lack of tailgating space outside our own perfect little football stadium is the biggest problem we have to worry about.
Let's get the thing built and then we'll worry about where to grill the brats.

But, but, but, SDSU needs the Chargers! 1. Shocking 250 million price tag. Whoever could have seen that coming?? And that's just the first number... 2. Haven't come close to finalizing the financing and feasibility. Might not need the NFL - but wouldn't have hurt. Good first step a year later - but once again blowing your load way way too early.

Money bags is back! Welcome! How was Inglewood? I have thoroughly enjoyed watching the LA Chargers this year. What a team! Got bored watching your team reclaim it's rightful place at the bottom of the PAC 12 huh?

He should take a look at Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma or almost any other program to see what their parking situation looks like. You have to be in great shape to hike from most of their parking to the stadium.

San Diego Football fans have unrealistic expectations when it comes to game-day parking since we’ve had the largest stadium parking lot west of the Mississippi for the past 30+ years. Those lots are a dying breed, and rightfully so, considering the waste of space that they are.

What the portion or area of the stadium was expandability discussed? Not trying to get ahead of things here, but there would seemingly need to have room/space in at least one of the 4 sides of the stadium where expansion would happen. Was anything said or do any of you know or have some hunches how expansion could be accomplished structurally & proximity? Thanks in advance! It would be nonsense for anyone to think that our proposed new stadium could be expanded to accommodate the NFL. This is merely fodder to gain votes from the "bitter clingers" for a new NFL team. The NFL---with their $1.5 billion, and more, requisite expenditure on a new facility, would never allow their palace to be mounted upon, the---by comparison--Dixie Cup that we'll be propping up. Folks are more worried about expansions from 35k to 42k or 50k if needed for SDSU. The Dixie Cup vs Palace is just not fair, at all.

The negativity of this board never ceases to amaze me. People here have been crying for a year, saying that SDSU was flailing and faltering. People said they would never be able to get anything done. Yet here they are, with a plan in place. They have developed outside support, who has hired a campaign manger, raised funds, and is moving towards an initiative, just as FS did. What is more impressive is, SDSU did all this in a 7-8 month period, starting from scratch. Meanwhile, the competition had two years, and was inappropriately (potentially illegally) receiving inside information from the city government. And leading SDSU on that they were partnering with them.

I don't care about the FS plan, except as it impedes, or blocks SDSU. I see SDSU still slow to mount any PR campaign (though better this week) and slow to show any ability whatsoever to fund what they want and wish for. Throwing out "bond" funding without also showing provable revenue streams is almost desperate. But most of all, I am very disappointed that SDSU apparently has no real partner with bank. Why do they need a bank?

According to SDSU's plan, there will eventually be over 11,000 parking spaces on site, which will be used for retail/office, housing, classrooms and stadium. Not all at the same time. I would think there will eventually be more than 6,000 game day spaces available, but it will never be like it is currently. Adjustments will have to be made by tailgaters--at least the ones using 4 spaces for their parties.
