Brett McMurphy says SDSU is "locked in" as the MW's representative in the New Mexico Bowl. I don't buy it, but we will see. Edit: Brett seems confident in that prediction. I hope he is wrong, as he has us playing Marshall. Marshall in NM. Please god no.

Marshall in NM. Please god no. Agreed. Sounds like the worst case scenario. Seeing that the Aztecs asked for Arizona, makes sense they won't get it. The conference only truly reps a few teams in the conference.

I could have lived with New Mexico vs Kiffin, but yes, vs Marshall and it is the worst case scenario. And I'm also hopeful we won't get stuck with it. However, Rocky said in his news conference that he was asked by both the conference and Wicker about his preference, and he said he asked for the best opponent possible.

I feel bad for whoever we play. This team plays well when it has a chip on its shoulder.

We need Fresno to beat Boise this weekend. If so, it is likely we get the Foster Farms Bowl and play Wazzu.

As late in Dec as possible, so team can get in as many practices as it can . Also decent pay out .
WSU loves to throw the ball and we have not been too stellar on passing defense .

The NCAA limits the total number of bowl practices that each team is allowed.

yes they do have a limit but if we have early Bowl game and Finals , we do not always get to use all the practices .

I'm not sure how accurate that list is. The first possible bowl listed is the Las Vegas bowl. I thought the league champion plays in that bowl?

I would say that either BSU or FSU at 10-3 could be a candidate for the Foster Farms Bowl for example which would provide a 9-3 P12 team instead of the 7-5 P12 team that will be going to the LV Bowl... If that happens then the LV Bowl can choose someone else like SDSU or not...

The winner of Saturday’s game will go to the LV bowl but you have a point and now I can see the loser going to the foster farms bowl instead of us.

yes they do have a limit but if we have early Bowl game and Finals , we do not always get to use all the practices . This. When we played in the New Orleans Bowl we only had a few practices because of finals week. We need the bowl game to be later so we use all our practices for the young players.

The NCAA limits the total number of bowl practices that each team is allowed. Correct, it doesn't matter if you play in the New Mexico Bowl or the Rose Bowl you only get 15 days of practice. Playing in a later bowl does not really help. Your team just gets to sit around more, unless you want to watch more film.

I think the earlier poster was pointing out that the closer the game is to finals, the more difficult it was to get in practice time.

If Boise loses again, we have to be favorites for the #2 bowl right?

People are shocked that we are regulated to an irrelevant bowl. Hell I had to look up FAU as I've never heard of them before. I've asked 20 people here where I live in the Bay Area, all college graduates, if they've ever heard of FAU or the New Mexico Bowl. ZERO on both. Yay us for beating Stanford and ASU, but the end result would be the same had we lost to them...still in a sh*tty bowl. Apparently I still have my homer glasses on since I'm still bitter about the whole damn thing. FAU is a national story right now. They have Lane Kiffin as their coach, and are all over the college sports talk shows. Sorry your Bay Area friends had not heard of them. Is it possible that they are so busy trying to manage the insane cost of living there, and the trash problem in San Francisco to worry about FAU's offense? Nice!!!

www.idahostatesman.com/sports/college/mountain-west/boise-state-university/boise-state-football/article187241843.html"An ideal situation for the conference might be Boise State winning Saturday to face a Pac-12 team, Fresno State playing somewhat near home against a Pac-12 squad, and sending 10-2 San Diego State to Hawaii to play a good team from the American." Interesting to read that the ideal situation is for State to be shipped off to Hawaii. I am sure this is Boise's thinking, which makes it the de facto MW thinking. If Fresno wins, look for the MW to work hard to have the Vegas and FF Pac 12 entrants swapped as to avoid having WSU and BSU play again and to have Boise play a P5 opponent. Nevermind that they try to avoid having a team go to the Islands twice in a year. But hey, what do you expect?
