Looks like the P5 conferences filled their bowl slots this year, knocking us out of consideration for Foster Farms or Cactus bowls. Projections I'm seeing are pretty ugly, with other schools getting their shots at us, rather than us getting a shot at someone. SB NationCBS SportsESPN

This is really disappointing. Why is a 6-6 Utah St. team being projected against the Washington teams in the Foster Farms bowl instead of us? That would be a great match up, and easy for fans to get to!

Nobody knew Houston would be going to the Vegas Bowl until they were. These projections are just people slotting teams into spots. I would not worry about it.

The P5 teams filling slots is the issue. If, for some chance, the Foster Farms Bowl becomes available, it would be us, not Utah State. But that was the only non-Big Ten projection for that bowl that I saw.

The only projection that matters to me is espn and they both have us playing FAU in the NM bowl. FAU has won eight straight which is about to become nine vs weak competion. I saw some of their game vs Wisconsin and they looked decent. Not a horrible matchup.

The sad reality is that not being a P5 school and playing our games so late means nobody ever sees us play and just like the Walker and Heisman awards, we will always be an afterthought and get the shaft.

SEC is only P5 that will not have enough teams to cover tie-in.

People are shocked that we are regulated to an irrelevant bowl. Hell I had to look up FAU as I've never heard of them before. I've asked 20 people here where I live in the Bay Area, all college graduates, if they've ever heard of FAU or the New Mexico Bowl. ZERO on both. Yay us for beating Stanford and ASU, but the end result would be the same had we lost to them...still in a sh*tty bowl. Apparently I still have my homer glasses on since I'm still bitter about the whole damn thing.

I know of them because I follow college football religiously and I used to live 40 min from the school. When I lived there they got an awesome on campus stadium built. Before that they actually played their games in Miami. They’ve been bad for awhile until this season.

They have Lane Kiffin as their coach, and are all over the college sports talk shows. Sorry your Bay Area friends had not heard of them. Is it possible that they are so busy trying to manage the insane cost of living there, and the trash problem in San Francisco to worry about FAU's offense?

Funny one of the people I talked to is a Florida Gator. Sorry that you don't make enough to live up here. I guess that's why you have the time to know all about irrelevant schools. Again my point is the casual fan has no idea who these schools or bowls are. Keep arguing though, you may actually convince yourself that you're right (in your own mind at least).

New Mexico Bowl has got to be the lamest bowl. A real Heisman candidate, MWC Champions the last 2 years, and we have dominated our bowl games the last 3 years. No respect. I guess the only hope would be the Hawaii Bowl, but still lame. I just hope we don't play a team that wears red unis, then some Aztec fans are going to have to figure out they have to wear black. The color of their actual football team's uniforms.

A good match up would be South Florida and the Aztecs.
It is an ESPN game. Both conferences have a tie in.
The only drawback is it is the Aloha Bowl, and as many have said, we played there this year and in the bowl two years ago.
But who knows, TV will dictate and especially ESPN.

Would take that in a heartbeat, especially if we could make it later in the month, for more practice time. There would have to be a lot of wheelin' and dealin' to make that happen, though.

Memphis in Birmingham, AL. Memphis is scheduled to play a SEC team, SEC does not have enough teams qualified, ESPN should make swap with SDSU.

You are a winner. No need to list my resume, or business success/lack there of here. Your own words speak volumes about who you are. You and Bolt/Buff guy are two of a kind. All Bowls suck, and SDSU has no access, minus the NY6 Bowl, of which 64 other teams are competing for one spot. It is clear you fail to understand CFB. What should we do? Tell the Pac12 we are joining effective immediately.

This is just a bunch of dribble, no insight or facts. Nothing has changed from the other thread on Bowl eligibility. Three P5 teams that weren’t projected to be eligible are now eligible, TTU, Duke and Ole Miss. The important game was Wisky/Minnesota and Wisky won making the B1G four teams short leaving open the Foster Farms B1G slot.
That doesn’t mean SDSU will get it, but it could happen.
