I just find it silly that Schefter talks about the "55 year history in San Diego" when they have been here 56 years. But I also think this whole saga has been silly. And yet, it is still sad.

Ok, so again, I set the Over/Under at 12 months from next week that Acee, Billy Ray, and Kaplan are all looking for new jobs? Thoughts?

Again, hope you guys get it done and maybe San Diego can retain the bowls. I am less upset about losing the NFL than I am what a minor league City San Diego is. Just pathetic. Oh well. Minor league sports city yes. However, the Chargers have been one of the most mismanaged franchises in all of MAJOR league sports. Despite the fact the NFL is the only one of the four which splits TV revenue equally to all teams, the Chargers have been to just one Super Bowl in the 50+ years they've played that game and being the Chargers, they got blown out. What infuriated me most about them was the fact they failed to take the ticket guarantee money and use it as seed money for building a new stadium. Go ahead and blame the citizen of SD all you want but it's clear the main culprit in not getting a new stadium built was the Spanos family.

The whole saga has been an unmitigated cluster ****. Absolutely pathetic they couldn't figure it out. And if this ends up being one last leverage play, Spanos fumbled it so badly it's a perfect picture towards his inadequacy as an owner and business man

If 94.9 goes all sports (which is a roomer), there certainly is no need for 3 sports talk stations. Acee may not even have a job at 1090.

The NFL Owners are slowly killing the Goose that lay golden eggs. Under their guidance and in their quest for PSL and advertiser money, we now have about a 10th of their ticket paying fan base (spread across SD, St. Louis & Oak) ready to give a rats a$$ for the league going forward - forever. Coupled with that, they will have two losing teams haplessly annoying a disinterested fan base in one of the country's largest markets. Now, NFL TV channels will often be featuring games with small crowds of half hearted fans. Season tixs owners will be looked upon as fools more so than cool as they give so much of their time and money to owners that could give a rip about anything but their personal bottom line. Add the changing demographics where Soccer fans and Video Game players will soon swamp the former pop warner and high-school football players that make up the core of the current fan base. While fantasy football is huge with the millennials, I'm not sure that following will translate into ticket or product sales and save them from their inevitable decline.

Re-reading the first couple pages of this thread is glorious. Bolt1963 was going to be furious if the Chargers left town and SDSU didn't announce a plan immediately for a smaller stadium and to raze the Q. I think it took less than 24 hours from the Chargers press conference for it to get leaked that an announcement to do just this is coming by the end of the month.
Now Bolt1963 says it better be 35k and not 30k or he's going to be furious. LOL, I still can't believe the Chargers are gone...I feel like I'm dreaming.

First of all, both Spanos, the hoteliers, and the politicians front and center as well as those we've had over the past 15+ years speak with fork tongue. Spanos lied to everybody including himself. He made up his mind quite some time ago to move to L.A. and did just enough to prove to the idiots in New York (Goodell) that he did everything to stay. What amazes me is that Faulconer also stated he was on the horn talking to Goodell all the time. Apparently Goodell chose to listen to Deano instead of our Mayor and City Council. It was all a charade. I'm sad to see the Chargers go but I'm glad Spanos left and will get his ass kicked in L.A. L.A. only supports winners and free spending owners, neither of which Dean is close to.
