That's good for the conference...it'd be nice for the MW to be a multi-bid again. We need our rivals to be decent to make conference play that much more exciting...I'll never forget the 2014 victory to seal the season.

Good for New Mexico. Not jealous at all. SDSU went 16-2 and did not get into the NCAA's remember? We need the "traditional" powers of the MWC like UNM and UNLV to be good. Like it or not, they helped put this conference on the map along with BYU before SDSU got good. UNLV is still more attractive to recruits than SDSU despite their downfall and our consistent winning. I'm all for our conference getting better. That seems like the quicker route to respectability than trying to change conferences (even though I do want us out.)

247sports.com rates Isaiah Chandler #352 nationally. 247sports.com/Player/Isaiah-Chandler-91429Marlon Cunningham is 3,3,2 stars from the 3 services. Chris Sodom is 4,3,3 from the 3 services. I don't think that is "out recruiting" us.

does present the idea that we are still having difficulties getting high quality HS guys that play the 5/4 positions.

No it doesnt. We don't recruit for a "5" position at all due to scheme / philosophy and we get lots of great "4" players for our system.

Its a point in time versus a full blown analysis, but they look to be on track to have a good class.

We tried last year to recruit numerous numerous HS guys to play the 5 position and were not successful . the coaches do try to recruit guys but have not been successful. Key part of our D is a guy that help protect the rim -Valentine graduates after this year ,so who are you suggesting we get for 2017 or will it be Nolan and Z ? Maybe . but still fill that we will need a quality 5 if we hope to do well with decent run in MM.

"Have a good class" is good to see for the conference, but to imply we getting out-recruited by them is silly just cause they got a couple guys nobody else big seems to be after. I also am leery of guys ranked high by only 1 service with little interest from any big schools (Sodom looks to have some big schools on his list, but seems some might not be real (i.e. Kansas). Now I am a little concerned that we don't seem to have any visits (that we know about) lined up, but there's still time. Maybe the staff knows McCoy is going to commit .

At present the Aztecs have only one new player hitting the floor next year: Devin Watson. I'd take him over all three of those guys.
The Aztec program could thrive on transfers of his quality.

Actually they have 3. Watson, Schakel and Seiko. Extremely excited about Watson and I think Schakel is higher profile over the UNM guys. Seiko not rated high so we'll see. As we found with Watson and Teki, it always seems to be good to have an extra scholarship available so sometimes missing out on a guy or 2 works out okay with the transfer market.

I think I remember some scheduled for the week of UNLV and I saw some recruits with the BB team at Qualcomm on Cal gameday... could have been unofficials...

Do not think there were any comments from any of the possible recruits about visits to SDSU ? Have not seen comments from McCoy where he will visit - not sure we are an official for ? If we go with 3 guards plus a 4 and 5 . 4 and 5 will need to be very good rebounders ,plus defenders Nolan , Zylan , Jalen , Max ?

I can't see the Aztecs not playing 3 guards next season. Technically we played 3 guards last when Allen & Shrigs were on the floor & will often this year with Teki, Shrigs, etc. We can call them "3's", but if we do run with 3 next year Hemsley would shift more into Kell's current role & Kell into Teki's & Allen's, etc. In other words, he'd basically be 2/3, much like Allen & others will be this year. I do agree though, but I'd describe it as being very likely to run 2 points with either being equally likely to start the offense and lead the break as the other. Should be fun to watch!
