we are not as good as the majority of P5 schools , they have incredible money , facilities and P5 status . They get the majority of 5 star recruits and 4 star . We battle for the 3 star as do most other G5 . Houston is a school that has a great budget - will pay big for a coach that will be able to recruit . So it is trickle down recruiting as usual if a P5 lower level gets poached by a higher level P5 then they start looking at the better G5 school recruits . Same thing has happened for the last few years .

Two 11 win seasons in a row that puts us as better than most in the P5 if we can beat Houston.Just ignore the money thing and it will all play out in the end the program has to keep winning,It is not like the players get paid so who cares about money.We are past the poaching stage of a few years ago now we poach and like I said if we beat Houston expect some 4 stars to jump aboard. |

You are drinking the kool aid if you think we are better then majority of the P5 schools. We have 1 win over a P5-CAL at home in the last X years Wish we could ignore the money the P5 schools get for coaching , recruiting , facilities, travel , ...... it all adds up to their advantage . The divide between the P5 is wide and continues to get wider . Our coaches have to work hard to prep the guys we are able to recruit . Sorry to say but there are recruits that are only going to look at P5 schools - or use G5 schools as a safety until they get the offer from a P5 . The younger coaches at G5 schools who do well are then grabbed/poached by P5 schools . We lost Brady to Michigan , CSU lost theirs to Florida , BSU 's to Washington , last couple of weeks Houston , Temple , SFU all lost theirs to P5 schools. So again the P5 money does mean something - as college program is defined by your coach ?

You are going off 3 or 4 or in some cases 6 years ago mentioning Hoke,That does not apply anymore with Rocky he is staying so coaching we are good to go.As far as facilities we play in a pro stadium and our practice field looks good,Weight room excellent all that is missing is a football operations building next to the practice field.If we played more P5 schools in the last two years we would have more wins against P5, the problem is we are not scheduling them like lets say Hawaii does so that is one thing that needs to change. |

have lost to a PAC FB school in 2012 , 13, 14 , 15 in FB . Next year we play 2 PAC schools and will be doing so in many of the next few years .
My point on coaches ,the quality younger coaches for G5 schools as they do well get hired by the P5 schools who have more money to pay their coaches . We do have Rocky , who is not looking for a P5 school or its money to coach . P5 schools do have an advantage in hiring coaches and getting the higher ranked recruits . Football divide is more pronounced but is getting that way for MBB also .

Someone needs to put a petition together to stop any more BS from the P5.There are more regular colleges than P5 if we all worked together to battle them then things could be more fair.If they keep pushing I am down for acting like they do not exist and would be glad if SDSU did the same.And every non P5 could do the same and not schedule these schools.They can not exist without the non P5 so there is leverage. |

P5 has the leverage , money , TV networks, Bowls , facilities , coaches , playoffs , POWER ............. So there is very little G5 schools can do and very likely it will get worse before it will get better .

Hopefully the bowl win over Houston on National TV will help elevate our teams profile. Two year MW Champions, DJs run at the All-time NCAA rushing record and a couple of All-Americans should also say something about the program.
Plus Rocky's warm and loveible personality should resonate with kids today. Ok, maybe not but the top 4 reasons are true.

some of the best accomplishments SDSU has had in a very long time . but can not change that we are in the MW a G5 conference . Now maybe if we were working with Houston , SMU , Florida Schools to start a New Conference ?

How many P5's have 3 or more All Americans this year. That should show those high 3's and low 4's what SDSU can do for them a G5 program. Our coaches and system can make them All Americans too if they are willing to work hard and follow the rules.

We'll still face the facilities/conference arguments & hurdles, but a high profile win like that can have a good impact on recruiting a year or 2 down the line. The impact on THIS class will most likely be minor, although we could see a couple guys who were on the fence lean our way. The other thing it may do is make some guys less likely to decommit if someone else comes calling. We should have more HS Soph's & Junior's considering SDSU now, thus making them more willing to open their doors & build relationships with our coaching staff. That should really pay off next year. More important is keeping our position coaches. The position coaches (& geo area recruiters) are more important to recruiting than the HC. We really need to keep the Gonzalez's, White's, Schmidt's, Cooper's, Arnett's, etc., as well as the Horton's & Hauck's. Won't be easy. When they leave you're more likely to see flips. |
