After doing some quick research I am ranking SDSU 6th in the Mountain West in recruiting so far. After winning a few more games ESPN and media coverage should have players basically contacting SDSU as recruiting candidates to build a strong class but as of right now they are behind.
#1 Boise #2 Nevada #3 Fresno State #4 Air Force #5 CSU #6 SDSU #7 SJSU #8 UNLV #9 USU #10 Hawaii #11 New Mexico #12 Wyoming

quality is more important then quantity . Also believe IF Aztecs can get to the MW Championship game or even better - quality of recruits may also increase , so do you wait to see what other recruits may want to visit or commit ?

Sounds good but there is no reason to be in 6th place maybe 3rd or 4th looking to make a run at first but we are way out of it as of now.I believe we finished third last year.Time to hire someone to organize and help our recruiting efforts.

Are you saying Coach White is not doing a good job? It seems that the recent classes have been very good...regardless of the * fixation. Can we do better? Always strive for that.

He is not doing a bad job but getting the best recruiting class in the conference is extremely important for a number of reasons and I am sure he is trying to do that every year. With the amount of players that do not show up especially the last two years who were the best recruits that would sink the recruiting class from three to five or six overall in the conference and that is a major concern.

Quality or quantity? Both are crucial. It's fine to recruit a 4-star O-Lineman, but what if he goes down and you have just a 2-star guy, or worse, an unrated player, to take his place? By now, a lot of very good H.S. seniors have already committed. I suspect that we will be contending with a lot of other G5 schools for what is left. The program will really have arrived when we reach the point at which perhaps fifteen 3-star (or better) athletes have already committed by Sept. AzWm

Rocky always says "Don't look at Star ratings". Seems the recruits SDSU pulls in are doing ok.

They're among the top 2-3 G5's in recruiting nearly every year. We've typically been among the top 10-15. As for this year, WAY too early to worry. I definitely wouldn't put AF ahead of us just because they have 20+ committed. I don't think there's a single guy in their class I'd rank over our commits thus far. I'd put us on par with NV, FSU & CSU right now. The only difference is maybe 1-2 3-stars or 3-4 commits overall, which is nothing at this point in time. The ONLY reason I'd put BSU higher is they have a 4-star committed; no other reason. G5's typically get recruits later, hence why we see a lot of P5's with 15-20+ commits & most G5's with 7-14 with Memphis, Houston & Western Michigan being more the exception than the rule (I don't count the academies since they play under different rules). A lot of kids will hold out, waiting on a P5 offer and when those don't come they'll finally get around to signing with us or another G5 in the conference. We're competing more head to head with the P5's so not surprised by the low numbers. Plus, I'm not even sure we're going after a full class, depending on the # of grayshirts & attrition. We'll know more in January. We are also a program which rarely brings in recruits for football games, which I'm sure may play into the lack of early commits. If we're down around #4 or #5 in early January based on Quality not Quantity, only then would I believe we have any reason for concern. We have a terrific staff, with several good recruiters on a winning team getting a lot of pub. Unless we have high turnover among that staff we should be fine. PS. IMO, when teams are separated by any combination of getting 2 decent recruits and/or having 2 decommits they're basically on equal footing. WSU was ranking among the top 3-4 classes for 2017 in the P12 not too long ago, prior to having 5 decommits in the last 2 weeks. Anything can happen in this crazy game of recruiting, especially this early in the process.

Rocky and the staff were out watching a wide variety of guys this past weekend in their HS game . Rocky said he stayed in the back ground at the Lincoln / Grossmont game . Wore a basic hoody and cap . Would say if we can continue to win on TV, stay in top 25, that recruits will be attracted to SDSU and could see up tick in the recruiting . It is how we finish that counts . Do remember that some recruits do flip .

I'd rather us win in the standings. Because that ultimately tells us we "won" in recruiting too. Next......

I think our last few recruiting classes are pretty solid. THis season, however it plays out, could be the one to put us into a next gear. I got my fingers crossed.

For the most part the highly rated P5 schools get the vast majority of 4 and 5 star recruits . The mid to lower rated P5 get a few of those and then may have an edge in the battle for 3 star ( IMO 3 and even some 2 star can be very difficult to distinguish up or down the line , BUT can depend on the system they play in and where they play in college) . Key battles are for those 3 star - what program is hot and system they play can be deciding and puts G5 schools in play . bottom line keep winnings and options open up

I want more playmakers at WR. They need to find the next Vincent Brown, Kasim Osgood or DeMarco. Cam Roane is a good start at QB.
BTW, not an indictment on the current guys.....I LOVE the scrap and moxie of Rocky's teams!!

WR's won't come until we incorporate them in the plan. SALU took away the run and we were dead. Get a thrwoing QB and they will come.
