In Other news: # 3 Sierra Canyon (Calif.) snaps 50+ game win streak of# 2 Oak Hill (Va.). Sierra Canyon includes: Bagely III (#1 class of '18), Bagely (Frosh), Ira Lee (U of A), Remy Martin (ASU), T McBride (Cornell) and Adam Seiko (SDSU) usatodayhss.com/rankings/expert/boys/basketball/2016/4

Finally got to watch the game. Seiko not a difference maker. Underwhelmed. Remy Martin was a bigger difference maker as was their SIXTH man who is going to Cornell. Hope Schakel is better. Seiko is pretty average and not as good as Kell who is average. More frustrating years to come unless we land McCoy.

More frustrating years to come unless we land McCoy. also watched the game. agree with some of your analysis. he is not a facilitator, not a scorer..but he seems to have good court awareness. i want to say his ceiling might be D. Williams. but he moves better than expected. a better defender than expected. he guards the opposing teams best players.

we usually are able to sign HS recruits who are maybe top 50 to 200- guys we Hope have a high ceiling . That for the most part are similar to Trey, Zylan and take 3 to 4 years to get close to their best value . For a game changer in their first year, you need top 25 , guys we do not get.

He seems to be a good defender and will most likely be a roll player with us. I believe he starts on that Sierra Canyon team though which is impressive, and they are loaded with talent so it makes sense that he mostly defers. Maybe with lesser talent around him he would be more of a difference maker

We have Kell , JH , the transfer all with at least 2 years experience next year so would guess he is, as mentioned some one who the coaches see as some one they can give spot minutes learning, for when Kell leaves . Another recruit not rated that high but who we hope has a high ceiling/growth for future years .

He's going to be a great team guy. Won't be a prolific scorer by any means, but he's got a seriously high Bball IQ, and will make plays that a lot of our more heralded guys are incapable, or unwilling to make. Plus, dude is a stud in the classroom. I think he'll play with a chip on his shoulder, which is what we currently lack.

Lots of Seiko playing D in this video going up against Troy Brown, top 20 player in his class. Troy is 6'7 or 6'8. He really takes it to Adam off the dribble a number of times.

Amazing! All the coaches on this site.....have all the answers about each athlete BEFORE they are in school and have joined the team. I think I'll wait for the real coaches,Fish and staff have time with them.

Can Seiko shoot the ball? Better than 40% shooter from 3. The overreactions to Seiko are unbelievable. The kid is a terrific player, who's playing on teams loaded with talent. He's smart enough to know his role, but that doesn't mean he'll be limited at the next level.

He will be coming to the Aztecs at a position where we are in pretty good shape . So he will be learning his first year and develop into a better player as Trey leaves , good transition , with out the pressure his first year . Very similar to most first year players we have had - with maybe more realistic expectations .

He will fit right in to our system. there is much to like about his character from what i hear. disappointment comes from those who want him to be more of a Jamaal, or Brandon Heath. i see a good player who is defending about well as can be expected at that level.

Everything I read when we signed him was about defense and he was a Dakarai type of player...obviously with upside. I am not expecting Kawhi 2.0 here but would take Dakarai 2.0.

Dakarai can't shoot...we need to recruit kids that can score the call and can actually shoot a 15ft jump shot

Dakari was recruited as a lock down defender and on offense as a guy that could slash to the basket for points - NOT as an out side shooter. He has tried to become a better three point shooter but it is not a strong suit for him . Would prefer he perfect his scoring close to the basket , rebounding and continue to hustle rather then get enamored with his three point shooting . Enough of the experimenting Winston tried to be a guard . Trey a PG , Matt a three point shooter .AQ a PG ( he was a SG ),
Zabo was brought in to be a facilitator PG - his best assets passing and up tempo style of play not as an outside shooter - although he was not bad . But the coaches moved Trey to PG , with 5th year senior AQ , then we signed JH ( who plays similar to Zabo ) . Zabo and our style that year did not mesh and his parents saw that there would not be much PT going forward .
Adam is brought in to play D and do a variety of things at SG . He is used to playing " floor general" on a high quality team . Does a lot of things as needed to try to help his teams win - that can be facilitating , defense, scoring depending on what is needed . He is not a top 25 player that will instantly be a tremendous scorer - more of a team guy that the coaches believe has a high ceiling , will get better , and produce as he gains more college experience . We recruit good players but he will be a freshman and probably get better with PT he earns . The Freshmen we sign need time to develop their game .

Sounds like a prototypical Aztec...someone who can play 4 or 5 years...while getting incrementally better each year helping the team more and more as he develops...just the opposite of a "one and done" This is how Coach and his staff have built a consistent winning program...
