Both those guys would have played behind Skylar for 3 years, and not sure either would have been good fits with our team.
Definitely not Rooks; would not fit with our defensive style. N'Diaye hasn't been in OSU's rotation & he's a junior. Do believe he could have been a deep bench guy who might see time next year, but if it mean losing Chol the last 2 years no thanks.
Wouldn't count these 2 as guys we "lost". They were just local big guys who we weren't all that interested in.
Leaf, yes. We lost that one. Chol rebounded.
We'll see on McCoy.
It's semantics- missed, lost, didn't get, weren't that interested in and that could only be answered by Fish & Co. The Question I was responding to was "Which other big guy in San Diego other than Leaf have we missed on?" I saw McCoy at one late season game that we survived.

Every single big that has ever come out of San Diego minus Abukar and Chol. And they both transfered in.If we can get one center that is a pro prospect it will make all the difference.Get to work coaches!

If we have no interest in the players we didn't miss on them, we showed a little interest in Rooks I believe (I could be wrong) but it was never serious and we didn't offer. The other guy I haven't heard of

(No offense)

Rooks was slow and fat and would have been a massive liability to our defensive scheme, therefore it is accurate to say that we weren't interested. I'm sure our staff was at his games, since that's how you evaluate promising talent, but he was a terrible fit for what we do. McCoy on the other hand....would be a humongous get, as Leaf would have been.

Very interesting match up for Open Division of San Diego CIF McCoy's team vs Leaf's team . Would guess best 5 Aztecs have signed out of HS has been Skylar . Very little success signing the best HS seniors in San Diego that play the 5 or even most of CA .

I'll be at the girls open division championship just prior to that game, so I'll definitely be staying to check out McCoy. Too bad the Aztecs play in the evening, otherwise I'm sure Fish and crew would be there to watch as well.

Would be wise for the staff to send Shelton , or others from the staff there to watch the 8 pm game . Could be the most important HS recruit for SDSU in 2017 !

2017 is going to be noted for having numerous taller players . The top 4 players are 7 foot, 6'8", 6'11", 6'10" , Also #6 is 6'9" , #7 6'8" none have us on their list as of today. McCoy is #9 . Other taller players at #19 and #20 plus # 16 Tilman is 6'10 " ,he plays at the same HS that Nolan went to in Indiana .

Very little success signing the best HS seniors in San Diego that play the 5 or even most of CA . Again which of those guys were we truly interested in? San Diego has not produced good bigs over the years. Rooks was a poor fit and we never offered and based on the way he has played at Cal that looks like a proper evaluation. Jayce Johnson we were never on as much as others were, the staff may look dumb in that evaluation in time but they definitely aren't as high on him as others were. As for California? Of course we aren't going to get top recruits from California with offers from UCLA and AZ ect 90% of time. Skylar was a great get, he doesn't score a lot of PPG so people extremely underrate him on here but he is a truly dominant defender, and not just as a rim protector. Why does it really matter where we got talent from? Zylan Cheatham and Nolan Narain were big gets and both are bigs (said from the beginning Cheatham fits better as a 4 than 3), who cares if they came from San Diego or elsewhere? It doesn't make a difference. Center isn't the only big man position, but you sure love to use it to fit your dumb narrative.

My son and I just met Brandon at El Pollo Loco. He asked my 9 year-old where he wanted to go to college. My son said he didn't know. "Me neither," replied Brandon. My son said that he likes going to Aztec games. "Me too," said Brandon.
