Why isn't the city of San Diego able to keep the Chargers name, colors, and history like Cleveland was able to when the Browns moved?

Why isn't the city of San Diego able to keep the Chargers name, colors, and history like Cleveland was able to when the Browns moved? All that is property of the ownership. Since the Chargers claim LA is part of their market area, they will keep their Name/Brand recognition.

A far more appropriate trademark (Truth in Advertising) would be LOSER CHARGERS.

Bottom line Chargers are in LA or here . If gone then the City talks with Raiders about moving here .
More important focus right now is the Aztecs signing their recruits for this fall . SDSU going out and marketing San Diego's D1 MW championship team to the San Diego communities . The Chargers/ Raiders deals are out of our control .

The Rams will own the LA NFL market. As far as fandom in LA goes the Chargers will be behind the Lakers, Dodgers, Rams, Clippers, USC. I only see them tied with the Angels and ahead of the Kings.

This is the biggest news in Aztec and SD history and you want us to focus on recruiting? Lol. Let the adults talk.

The Rams will own the LA NFL market. As far as fandom in LA goes the Chargers will be behind the Lakers, Dodgers, Rams, Clippers, USC. I only see them tied with the Angels and ahead of the Kings. If the Rams lose and the Chargers win that'll all change. Bandwagon town (like SD). There was some (lame) sports poll that asked which NFL team they'd been following the past 5 years or something like that & the Rams came in 4th, behind the 49ers, Raiders & Chargers.
It's not like they'll have a string of successes when they get here like the Lakers or Dodgers that'll have built allegiance. There have been 2 generations of fans developed since the Rams were there. Those people just want anyone...
With LA, it's whoever wins big first that builds momentum. By those standards you'd expect it to be the Rams, but you never know. The Chargers could surprise..
To clarify, it says they trademarked the "LA Chargers", not the "Chargers", correct? They could easily negotiate the rights to the Chargers back to SD... It'd be dumb not to trademark the LA Chargers, just like they should have purchased the rights to lachargers.com (which they didn't).

In all fairness 5 years ago the Rams played 1500 miles away with little hope of returning to LA so the people there didn't have a whole lot of reason to follow them. The Rams have a potential superstar in Todd Gurley to market around, the Chargers don't have much besides an over the hill Rivers and Gates.

"The team filed both applications on an intent-to-use basis because, obviously, the team is not yet using these marks in commerce. However, the nature of an intent-to-use application means the team has a bona fide intention to use the marks in commerce in the near future."

A far more appropriate trademark (Truth in Advertising) would be LOSER CHARGERS. If that held true, the theme song would have been: "San Diego's Stooopid Chargers"!

This is the biggest news in Aztec and SD history and you want us to focus on recruiting? Lol. Let the adults talk. Getting San Diegans, many of whom were born and raised elsewhere and have no allegiance to the team, to pay for a stadium was a problem LAST YEAR. But this year or next? Please. I would rate the chance of a Bolts stadium being financed with public bonds here at less than 5%. Dean Spanos is the guy who berates his wife of 25 years, gets caught cheating with a skanky 20-something and shits in the kitchen sink then needs to borrow some money to go to the bar. What part of 'Get the hell out of our house and don't come back' don't you get? I don't know if Spanos is self aware enough to even know, but the "Build The Chargers a New Stadium" train has left the station and is never coming back. That is not surprising. The man is a born screwup who has never achieved anything in his life, not on his own. I think it's quite reasonable to presume he is in the midst of screwing up his franchise with the move to LA. That is his M.O. He is the town screwup. And you know what? Many of us JUST DON'T CARE.

Ahead of the Kings???.....The Kings have 2 recent championships and are still very good. Their fan base is very big and getting bigger.
