The Rams will own the LA NFL market. As far as fandom in LA goes the Chargers will be behind the Lakers, Dodgers, Rams, Clippers, USC. I only see them tied with the Angels and ahead of the Kings. It won't matter. The Chargers could be the least favorite pro franchise in LA and they will still double the value of their team the day the moving vans pull into LA. They also will not have a problem filling the stadium with 70,000 visitors when there are 20 million people to market to in LA County and the nearby surrounding counties of Orange, Ventura, Riverside and San Bernardino. For a frame of reference San Diego County is only 3 million people. And don't fool yourself; there are still some die-hard Charger fans that will still make the 2 hour drive to LA.

Guess what like it or not . : Real Adult Talk . As soon as the Chargers say they are leaving the Mayor and City Council, County, will be on the phone asking Mr Davis to come talk with the City about moving the Raiders to San Diego - a major effort by the City and County officials .If our San Diego officials have not already been talking with them. Would guess having an NFL team in San Diego is a priority for SD officials .
You may be in celebration mode .Real Adult Aztec Talk. As of today Aztec Coaches are out trying to secure recruits for NLI day , that comes up quickly Feb 3 . AD should spend time while the team just came off a great year out in the communities marketing the SDSU team for next year . No matter if there is or is not an NFL team here in San Diego . Focus being on the Aztecs not the LA teams .

I want to congratulate md on yet another fantastic troll. This patent/trademark application is a big nothingburger, real cheap (relatively) to do and they would be foolish not to do it. It does not in any realistic way indicate they will move to LA.

Talks between the San Diego and the Raiders is about as far as it will get because there is NO guaranteed NFL stadium in San Diego that does not include public money in some form that will in all likelihood need to pass a public vote. Don't forget that the Raiders would have to pay a significant relocation fee and would be leaving an area of 7 million population (Bay Area) to San Diego County with a population of 3 million. If the Raiders can get something done in Oakland they will; they do have an extra $100 million to work with. I am super excited about our next recruiting class and the 2016 Aztec football season. SDSU academics and athletics have a bright future! Can't wait! Go Aztecs!

Yep, I'm trolling yet again and this is just another meaningless action by the Chargers who obviously want to stay in San Diego, right?. You'll think moving vans showing up to Chargers HQ is an attempt by Spanos to gain leverage in his San Diego negotiations.

You didn't change your name from "md" to "LAChargerfan" to do anything other than antagonize anyone with "bolt" or "Charger" in his/her screen name. This specific thing you're trolling on is incredibly insignificant in the big scheme of things; it's simple due diligence. All teams considering moves do it. I'm not your target audience. I believe the Chargers can move to LA; I believe they will if SD doesn't approve a new stadium; and I believe that there is a reasonable chance that SD won't approve a new stadium for them.

Being as this is the "biggest news in SD and Aztec history", refresh my memory as to "how a stadium is getting funded when the city can't keep the Chargers"..for SDSU football.....
Who/what's going to secure the land? Who/what is paying for stadium construction? If this in any way involves a "ballot initiative", (as it would have with the Chargers), why would it pass this time? And if there is no initiative, and an agreement is simply reached between the city and the university who's paying legal fees for any law suits as a result of such an arrangement?
Yes, no doubt a modest stadium for Aztec football would be a hell of a lot cheaper than an NFL stadium, but we're also talking about a program that creates a minor blip at best within the
community, (just ask the residents who DIDN'T go to the last two 2015 games if you don't agree).
I know a lot of you are prancing around enjoying this moment, but it's not over just yet. The fun may just be starting regarding the future of Aztec football. And it just may well be that bonehead decision to remove the on-campus stadium some time ago will come back to haunt.
In the meantime, pray the Q stands for as long as possible and there's a butt load of donors with a hard on for Aztec football.

The Rams will own the LA NFL market. As far as fandom in LA goes the Chargers will be behind the Lakers, Dodgers, Rams, Clippers, USC. I only see them tied with the Angels and ahead of the Kings. If the Rams lose and the Chargers win that'll all change. Bandwagon town (like SD). There was some (lame) sports poll that asked which NFL team they'd been following the past 5 years or something like that & the Rams came in 4th, behind the 49ers, Raiders & Chargers.
It's not like they'll have a string of successes when they get here like the Lakers or Dodgers that'll have built allegiance. There have been 2 generations of fans developed since the Rams were there. Those people just want anyone...
With LA, it's whoever wins big first that builds momentum. By those standards you'd expect it to be the Rams, but you never know. The Chargers could surprise..
To clarify, it says they trademarked the "LA Chargers", not the "Chargers", correct? They could easily negotiate the rights to the Chargers back to SD... It'd be dumb not to trademark the LA Chargers, just like they should have purchased the rights to lachargers.com (which they didn't).
The Rams and Chargers will both own LA ahead of all except maybe the Lakers.

Here's the problem I've had with you and the "fellow Aztecs" that seem to enjoy dancing on graves. There are a lot of residents, (and outlanders), that are going to be saddened by the departure of the Chargers and
saddened for all the right reasons. Yeah, they got jobbed. (And according to some here, the city ultimately didn't so hooray for you).
You people have seemed to believe the Chargers are the thing keeping the Aztecs from true greatness. And now, that those bad 'ole Chargers seem to be leaving, once and for all, the Aztecs will assume their rightful throne among city habitants based on all their previous accomplishments and brilliant decisions. Yeah, happy days are here again.
The reality is, the Aztecs have never done anything worth arguing, "this program should have its own stadium and once the Chargers are chased away, they will......it will be the will of the people"
It will be interesting to gauge the atmosphere in San Diego regarding football if the Chargers leave. Again, one would truly have to ask themselves if this Aztec program is worthy of all what would be required to protect their meager football interests, and I do mean meager, if it would require SO much of the city's resources.
Personally, as I've spent the majority of my adulthood truly disappointed in the level of success of Aztec football, (on the back of the idiot decision to destroy Aztec stadium after moving to public land), if I was still a resident and was asked to pony up money for a new stadium to be built in Mission Valley, I would vote "no". My response would be to find a place on campus or move on.
Those of you dancing on graves, hope I'm the only one who thinks like this. It's actually pretty cheeky really when you try to build your "fortunes" based on other's disappointments....but that's something I've learned to expect on this board long ago. In a perfect world, the Aztecs would have earned/deserved a new stadium.

That is their focus. Not seen the note about Chargers Moving event . Even if the relocation fee was only 50% of what it is in LA that would still be $225 million. And the stadium planned in San Diego is not a "Mega" stadium; it is already a scaled back stadium. IMO the Raiders in San Diego is a pipe dream.

You keep saying this, but the more I think about it, the more I think that's exactly what's going to happen. Like The Chargers, the Raiders would 10 years to pay off the fee. Mark Davis has already shown interest in playing in a RENOVATED Qualcomm, that alone saves 100's of millions and makes any vote on using public funds much more palatable. In addition Davis can be framed and caste as the man who saved pro football in San Diego, capitalizing on all the hatred San Diegans have for Dean Spanos - and everybody agrees there is an abundance of hate. Lastly, the Raiders don't even have a lease for next year in Oakland, it doesn't get much easier to facilitate a move.
