He was 4-star on Scout when he left high school - not now. He signed with Arizona State and was kicked off the team after playing in 6 games for a total of 26 minutes. He is playing at a JC this season. |

I must be blind. He's what 6'10" ? and I didn't see him ? you're not alone, I was zooming in with my phone camera and I couldn't find him. Also Mccoy was at the game. I couldn't find him either but I trust zeig and Ruben lol |

Losing Stanback REALLY sucks!
Any JC bigs still out there, or one who might develop over the course of the year & be available in the spring? I don't follow JC recruiting much..

Would say it hurt timing wise when we lost BJ . We did not pursue PF transfer J. Williams or other guys that play the 5 or 4 .that could have red shirted this year abd been able to play in 2016 . Or the center who left Florida both ended up on the West Coast ..... Signed Max as SF . NCAA "situations " have hurt as we have not been able to sign various guys who have signed with PAC schools .
Even if we sign Leaf to play the 4. The 5 position will need help for 2016 . Narain is learning to play the 5 and needs to add to his frame,he was a 4 in HS, not sure where McDaniels will play , as he is a thin frame so is Max. Zylan is very athletic not sure if he is a 5? So we may need to look at JC transfers or grad transfers , that can play in 2016. Need a rim protector and player that can guard the opponents 5

I know everyone is worried about whether we will or won't have a legitimate "5" next year. Yes it would be great if we had some 6'11" 250 man-child who ordinarily would go to Kansas or Michigan State but that's not who we typically recruit. Golden State won the NBA last year with Draymond Green as a "5", although at 6'7" 230, he was more like a 4 most of the time. Yes Bogut played some there but mostly it was a bunch of long, fast guys who could also shoot. We're still working on the "shooting" part of it.

Would love to add Leaf to the mix, but I like our team and depth next season either way .
Obviously, in Fishers system positions are interchangeable:
Guards:
Hemsley/Kell/Williams/Perez
Wings:
Pope?/Shrigley/Gill-Ceasar/Allen/Hoetzel
Bigs:
Cheatham/Narain/McDaniels/Leaf?/Senior transfer?

Don't forget that Malcolm was our 5 in 2010-2011. He was only 6'8, tall and skinny, but a great defensive forward and a great shot blocker. What was so great was how athletic he was. He could get up and down the court with the guards. I can see leaf playing a similar role
