There are different ways to protect the rim. Players like Shelton or Tiago Splitter in the NBA effectively protected the rim using footwork and length and not blocked shots. I would be happy to see a dip in shot blocking with an increase in rebounding if the rim can be protected with proper positioning. Splitter has a 7'2 wingspan and is very nimble on his feet plus a very smart defender, very underrated player. Again I'd still love the combo. There would be a drop off defensively tho I would think. I wouldn't SPLIT hairs on this, (pun intended). What we lose defensively we will more than make up offensively, and in smarts and overall play. We want and need better overall players.

Let's not forget about jalen mcdaniels, he's a quality kid at 6'8. Let's get this thread to 40 pages.

My worry wouldn't be on the offensive end, Narain isn't exactly the best fit to protect the rim. But I'd still love a Leaf/Narain combo. There are different ways to protect the rim. Players like Shelton or Tiago Splitter in the NBA effectively protected the rim using footwork and length and not blocked shots. I would be happy to see a dip in shot blocking with an increase in rebounding if the rim can be protected with proper positioning. Just remember that the Animal/Beast will also be patrolling the floor and I hear he likes to play tough D!

Any confirmation that he will be at the game? He's on campus today, so I'd say chances are verrrry high he's at the game. But, I still can't answer your question with absolute certainty, haha.

FYI - The Lobos landed 3-star Rivals, 4-star Scout 6'9 PF Conner MacDougall today. Looks a lot like a Cameron Barstow type player. We are going to need to get quality and athletic bigs!

I am in exactly the position I was hoping to avoid - Stanback committed to Stanford, and now all of our eggs are in Leaf's basket, and I've gotten my hopes based on him being back on campus today (even though he was probably at UCLA's scrimmage for all we know). So when he commits to the all-along favorite UCLA, it's going to suck so much more than it would have 2 weeks ago.

I hope we get Leaf. On so many levels that would help the SDSU Hoops Program, from getting a top 15 5-star player to keeping a tremendously large fish home! If Leaf were to stay home, like Shrigley and Kell, this would bode well going forward for McCoy and others! If we do not get Leaf, it won't be the end of the world, but we will have to get some quality bigs out of the JC ranks and 5th year senior pool.
