Maybe he will verbally commit in a halftime ceremony. One can dream.

Maybe he will verbally commit in a halftime ceremony. One can dream. That would be so sick. He's a program changer on the national recruiting stage, not to mention we'd finally keep one of the big names at home. Everyone get loud tonight, let's show him something that UCLA couldn't, a bad ass atmosphere!

For those of you going to the game... show him lots of love... signs, chants, etc. Let him see how nuts it would be if he came here.

Hamilton , Holiday , Parker, Alford and Bolden all were in double figures Friday night . Alford led them in assists with 7 , Bolden in rebounding with 11 . Welsh is a 7 ft center that did start but not as talented as the others had about 7 or 8 points . They also have reserves Olesinski about 6'10 (former team mate of Narain's ), Allen and Ali . Only senior is Parker . Welsh was much more highly recruited than Bolden, and was the #1 HS center in the west. He's a NBA talent, most likely first round. He's a stud. Don't focus on stats, especially in an exhibition blowout. UCLA has a ton of talent. Still have a tool of a coach

Let's get the El Conq shuttle bus out of moth balls. Instead of taking SDSU to TJ let's send it to east county and take TJ to SDSU.

You should be able to with your ability and skill but at the end of the day it's up to you to put the work in and earn that starting job. I'm not going to hand you the starting position just because. - what I'd believe coach fish would say lol

TJ would start for us at the 4, would this mean narain at the 5? Ya, but he doesn't necessarily need to be labeled a 5. We've ran a 3 forward look before and even in practice positions are called "Bigs" and "Smalls. The 3-5 can be pretty interchangeable, especially with Zylan as a potential small forward with Narain and Leaf back there as well. Talk about a talent filled front court!

My worry wouldn't be on the offensive end, Narain isn't exactly the best fit to protect the rim. But I'd still love a Leaf/Narain combo.

Players like Shelton or Tiago Splitter in the NBA effectively protected the rim using footwork and length and not blocked shots. I would be happy to see a dip in shot blocking with an increase in rebounding if the rim can be protected with proper positioning.

Unfortunately I think he loves Alford.....or at least SOMEONE on their staff.

I'm not going to hand you the starting position just because. - what I'd believe coach fish would say lol That's what EVERY coach would say publicly. However, when it comes to specific conversations re: specific players, some "rules" go out the window. The rub is you can "promise" anything; in actuality is WILL comes down to earning it. The difference being he's a) already in the house, and b) it's easier for the kid to understand not starting when he's being outplayed on the court, whereas as a HS senior their ego is the size of Mt. McKinley.
What's more important is for the player to SEE a clearer path - that may be "believing" the coach, or watching his potential PT competition on the court. I'm sure what's the greater influence will vary by kid.

If you have Leaf, Norain & Z, you can label them 3-4-5, 3-5-5, 4-4-4 or 5-5-5, or whatever you damn well please. It wouldn't matter. You'd make that work! Who defended who would depend on the specific match-up. With 2 rookies it's possible Z may draw the toughest assignment....
But labels are meaningless.
PS. Odd question - Stanback has said he'd "make the decision within a week (or so).." and that was weeks ago I believe. Any chance he's waiting on Leaf, which would only be the case if both were strongly considering SDSU??

Splitter has a 7'2 wingspan and is very nimble on his feet plus a very smart defender, very underrated player. Again I'd still love the combo. There would be a drop off defensively tho I would think.
