As the administration has been saying for some time now, there IS a 12th game. Should be announced shortly. Also, expect more NC game announcements soon. We will have a big game at Qualcomm for a few years straight starting with Cal in 2016. The negativity on this board is pathetic. I doubt there'll be any leap in negativity, as the incompetence level of our cadre of "leaders" renders most fans unable to be nonplussed at any further stumbling. "Most fans"? Think again, or are you just telling yourself that to make sure yourself feel better?
Are leaders are fine; it's many of our fans who are stumbling.

aztecspearedu: And imagine, this thread was about the topical and dynamic subject of a 12th game. Look at the morph into personal agendas that bore the readers. The only way to deal with posters who do this is to ignore them. I have with this bird some time ago.

That is not possible with someone who is as fortified with groundless esteem---as you apparently are---for the Three Men in a Tub. I'll come over to your side when I actually see any passion whatsoever (other than meaningless posturing) for football, from the AD and president. translation: Challenge declined. For someone who types so much, weird that you say so little. So little? Does he actually say ANYTHING, or just mumble random negativity?

Just announced that SDSU will play USD on September 5th... I like this even though I know many won't. Plus it gives us a 12th game.

Just announced that SDSU will play USD on September 5th... I like this even though I know many won't. Plus it gives us a 12th game. Its a good news / bad news deal ... "The pairing will come as a shock to some, considering the Aztecs have 85 football scholarships to distribute to the Toreros’ zero, and should SDSU win the victory would not count toward bowl eligibility." SDSU Athletic Director Jim Sterk saw the situation as an opportunity to have a unique football event in the city and USD AD Ky Snyder agreed. The Aztecs will pay the Toreros $350,000 – the standard fee for SDSU’s FCS visitors. The game will count in both teams’ records, but SDSU will need to win six times beyond the USD game because the Toreros are a non-scholarship program.

I see, forgot about the non-scholarship rule effecting bowl eligibility.

Please explain how exactly this is in anyway a good thing USD, although not a scholarship program is still an FCS schools and will be a more acceptable opponent than a D-2 ... it will be a good tune-up for the team before hitting the road against Cal & gives the program a 6th home game to raise revenue.

So the harsh reality is that we play a game with no real potential for a positive outcome, AND risk possible injuries to our key players. All down and no up.

Type of game a program scared would avoid. Please tell me this is your response when MBB schedule's games that don't count for RPI against schools like St. Katherine's or SD Christian.

Can't really compare basketball to football. Football has 12 games and for 1 to not count towards bowl eligibility is much more important than one of 28-ish basketball games that doesn't count towards RPI.
I love that it's a "city" game, but not thrilled to see the game only counts as a win (god forbid....loss) and nothing more.

Yeah, the no-schollie factor makes it a game we should avoid unless no other options remain....which is exactly the situation we found ourselves in...and I also like the "city" factor.
