FBS is not allowed to play a road game at a FCS site so there would never be a home and away with a FCS team. just pure cash. Is it prohibited by the NCAA, or just a commonly observed practice? I can't imagine why an FBS school would even want to play at an FCS school, but I was unaware that such a deal was not allowed. AzWm

Like the Poinsettia Bowl was going to be a win? Had some coaching errors as you know in that game as well as a easy field goal missed. In Hageman's defence we should have centered that for him. Wrong game. The BYU loss was a flat out ass whooping that could have been worse if Bronco Mendenhall didn't call off the dogs at the end. The Navy loss was due to bad coaching decisions and a missed FG.

From my understanding we pay for non-conference games unless we reciprocate or a deal is cut. But we're off topic. Little sister makes sense. We would still have to pay them -- and pay them enough to pay Northern Arizona for cancelling the game they have at USD on Sept 5th. So, in essence, we'd have to pay USD double what we'd pay any FCS team had we scheduled it before now ... If I were USD, I'd ask for triple. Competing against an FCS scholarship program is impossible enough. Playing an FBS team wouldn't be fair.

Not playing any game on September 5 will virtually ensure a loss at Cal the following week in what should otherwise be a competitive game.
It would therefore speak volumes about how penurious SDSU's athletics budget is if we don't pay some FCS school to get out of its currently scheduled game in order to come to SD to play us.
Or to put it another way, failing to do that would send a message to the B12 about how much SDSU is ready for prime time.

Go back to your Planet, kook. Chill big homie. It's just jokes. O.K. as The Mod I am prescribing a chill pill for both of you. Ghostie needs to get thicker skin & McQuervo needs to show us his certification as a psychiatrist so he can evaluate & designate kooks! Lighten up!

Eruct the required bounty, only to have us lay an egg on the field? That's been done---and we've shown our mastery at that---and we sure as hell can't afford another embarrassment.

Forgive me, El Guapo. I know that I, Jefe, do not have your superior intellect and education. But could it be that once again, you are angry at something else, and are looking to take it out on Sterk or Rocky?

AzWm I am not going to dig for this info so I am just 99% sure I am right on this one. From my understanding a FBS team cannot play a game against a FCS team on their field. I used to live in Montana and they draw 20000+ per game and charge a decent dollar per ticket and I know they had some talk of an old Big Sky team thinking about playing in Montana (may have been Idaho) but it was clearly stated that they were not allowed to play at Montana. Not sure if it is a rule but because Montana makes well over a million per home contest, if it was not a rule, they would have done it so it must be a rule.

Don't laugh! They were damned good before Vietnam pretty much killed off services teams. Even St. Coryell had a hard time beating them. If the Leathernecks still had a team, I would be tempted, I admit. AzWm Worked in 1953 - It was a charity game. Not much changes… Say, junior, you will notice that the 1953 Aztec Schedule had only 9 games on it . Five at home, and just four on the road. And, here we are complaining about only playing 11 games this season. Old coach Woody Hayes of Ohio State usually would schedule only 9 games for his Buckeyes while everyone else in college football was scheduling 10. He figured that way he could have a higher probability of having an undefeated team.

As the administration has been saying for some time now, there IS a 12th game. Should be announced shortly.
Also, expect more NC game announcements soon. We will have a big game at Qualcomm for a few years straight starting with Cal in 2016.
The negativity on this board is pathetic.

The opponent has some hurdles to span first so no clear date for telling the world is set. You're right about the negativity, which will zoom to new heights when the game is announced.

I doubt there'll be any leap in negativity, as the incompetence level of our cadre of "leaders" renders most fans unable to be nonplussed at any further stumbling.

That is not possible with someone who is as fortified with groundless esteem---as you apparently are---for the Three Men in a Tub. I'll come over to your side when I actually see any passion whatsoever (other than meaningless posturing) for football, from the AD and president.
