Big night for tea party: O'Donnell wins DelawareSome quotes from the article; " Former George W. Bush political adviser Karl Rove told Fox News Channel, "This is not a race we're going to be able to win." Delaware Republicans had actively worked against O'Donnell in Tuesday's primary. On Wednesday, a triumphant O'Donnell accused the party of "Republican cannibalism." "Republican Party officials who saw Castle as their only hope for winning the Delaware seat once held by Vice President Joe Biden made clear they will not provide funding for O'Donnell in the general election. The Republican state chairman, Tom Ross, has said O'Donnell "could not be elected dogcatcher" "In Minneapolis, former President Bill Clinton said the Republican Party is pushing out pragmatic voices in favor of candidates that make former President George W. Bush "look like a liberal." "O'Donnell has said she would work in Congress to repeal President Barack Obama's health care overhaul. She was also a spokeswoman for Concerned Women for America, a conservative Christian group that opposes abortion, including in the case of rape, and supports abstinence-only sex education." "In Alaska, Sen. Lisa Murkowski, who was defeated by tea party favorite Joe Miller, is considering a write-in candidacy and says the Alaska Republican party was "hijacked" by the Tea Party Express, which she calls an "extremist group." The committee, based in California, endorsed Miller and ran ads supporting him. " "Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada once appeared headed for near-certain defeat in the state that has the nation's highest unemployment, but he's now running even with tea party favorite Sharron Angle, a Republican who wants to phase out Social Security for younger workers, opposes abortion in all cases, including rape and incest, and would break up the federal Education Department." news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100915/ap_on_el_ge/us_primary_rdpThe Democrats in all of these races are guaranteed winners. Thank you again to the Tea Party. ;D

Thank you again to the Tea Party. ;D Later last night Rove also said Castle was paying for his seven or eight wrong votes like on Health Care and Stimulus. Conservatives know the danger that lies within what you say, but feel that in a race between a Rino and a Democrat all Conservatives lose. It is a purge of liberals and some moderates from the Republican Party. It might work an it might not. I see on Drudge where O'Donnel has raised over $500K in private donations just today and the RNC has written her a check for the maximum amout allowed. This might be closer than people think.

No party can hope to be represented in elective office only by those who adhere to a very detailed and uncompromising political philosophy. Things just don't work that way in a society in which many different shades of ideologies are held by different segments of the voting public.
The Tea-Party supporters, or many of them, are making the same mistake that the far Left made upon the election of Barack Obama. Finally, they believed, the time has come for collectivism to rid this land of all vestiges of Conservative thought. Well, it hasn't worked out that way for the Left, and it will not work for the Far Right, either.
Instead of 7, 8, or perhaps even more, pickups in the Senate, the GOP is probably going to make only 5 or 6. For the Republicans Party, that is not the end of the world, since a minority of 46 or 47 seats will be enough to force the Democrats to moderate their policies a bit. (More crucial is the House, where the GOP really has to take control to be able to stop the Obama express. They need to pick up about 40 seats to take control, but in reality they need to gain closer to 50 to give themselves a bit of a cushion. Whether there are enough unelectable Tea-Party GOP candidates to prevent that is not yet clear.
Lesson to be learned. Everybody else in the country does not think the way you do. In fact, plenty of your fellow countrymen think you are full of canal water. If you don't try to win them over with strategic compromises (such as realizing that Far Righters are likely to lose in New England), you will probably stub your toe.

Yes, anything can happen. However, "anything" usually does not happen.
I think the GOP will make big gains in both the House and Senate. The question is, how big? The GOP candidate for Senate in Delaware is clearly not the strongest in terms of the general election. The Veep's son pulled out of the race because he feared what was assumed to be the GOP candidate, a man who had won several times state-wide.
Now the actual Dem. candidate faces a real rookie with some very, very questionable entries on her resume. She may win, but if she does it will be a huge upset, perhaps close to a miracle. The GOP, if they lose that winnable seat, will have done it to themselves by overestimating the popularity of the values of the Tea Party. And, let me add, I am largely in sympathy with those values. The problem is, enthusiasm can only go so far when you put a flawed candidate up against a more attractive candidate in a state mostly sympathetic to the views of the latter.

AzWm I don't live in Delaware. The voters in that State have a choice to make now. Had Castle won, the choice would have been between a (D) and a (DIABLO) [Democrat In All But Label Only].Casshole is an asshole. A 'gone' asshole now. Good riddance. Might as well have the real deal. They told us that Rubio has no chance when C(h)rist decided to go Independent. How's that working out? Murkowshit is supposed to make a decision tomorrow about running as a write in. I hope she does. Because she will probably siphon more votes from the Demagogue candidate. The voters will choose. pajamasmedia.com/instapundit/106296/

Thomas Kuchel.
The Republicans tossed out the moderate Republican leader so as to nominate Max Rafferty -- a man with extreme, but pure, conservative credentials. But he didn't win in the general election. Instead, the ideological pure conservatives, by throwing out an electable moderate, brought about the election of Alan Cranston -- an iconic far left politician that they hate to this day.
It's easy to nominate an extremist; but virtually impossible to elect one. Unless the other party nominates someone even more ideologically pure and extreme.
Yoda out...

The Aztec Football playbook works fine as long as there are capable linemen up front to do the pass blocking or occasional run blocking. (Draws, Laterals with crack back blocks and scrambles. When you run off of pass blocking, you can not call it run blocking unless it is an individual block down field.) Without the linemen, your offense falls apart as I have so appropriately pointed out on the numerous Aztec boards during the past two decades. Well, folks, We are short linemen in this economy. In fact, we are so short linemen that we are in a Depression that nobody will admit to, but it is a Depression never the less. It is not very likely that we will change horses in the middle of a Depression. All Obama has to do is create the impression of making stronger efforts to rebuild the economy to placate the poor starving masses. More than fifty percent of the population are in the lower caste in America. If they vote at all, they will vote Democratic (Liberal) since the Republicans are too far to the ultra right.......... Voting Conservative in times like these is just like bringing in more wide receivers when our problem is a shortage of bulky linemen. It may look good on the recruiting lists, but it does not win games. (Tag this as one of the Greatest posts of the past ten years.)

I'd never thought I'd see a dumber "public servant" than palin, but that girl in Delaware is gonna give her a run for her money. They make reagan and quayle (who really weren't stupid like the liberal media made them out to be) look like bookish intellectuals. Democrats should be donating money---lots of it---to the tea party (as I'm pretty sure many in the "new right" donated to moveon.org). As long as the Republican Party swings to the conservative (Strong Old Fashioned Christian Ultrarightists), they will continue to commit suicide. The vast majority of people in this country are not Strong Old Fashioned Christian Ultrarightists. In fact the general perception of the SOFCU Republicans is that they are Nutters who have theirs and are loudly proclaiming So Fug You to the masses. Once the Democrats pick up on my creation above, they will not lose an election as long as the tea party pushes SOFCU candidates.

What on earth makes you say this? I don't know a lot about the guy but he seems like a dedicated, goodhearted public servant who agrees with probably 95% of what conservatives believe in. 95% does not equal 100%, though, so good night nurse to that guy. He voted for ObamaCare so he is a goner. He is going to be joined by a bunch more Nov 3.

Excuse me, but Castle was rated 20 out of a possible 100 by the ACU. He was rated 65 by the ADA. You could look it up. Add to that his condolence messages from Obama and Biden. He probably expects a high level government appointment, since he obviously thinks he has some god-given right to be part of the ruling class. His behavior after being shown the door bears that out. Meanwhile an "outsider" lost to an establishment Repub in New Hampshire, and showed how to be gracious in defeat. Castle is a no-class POS. pajamasmedia.com/instapundit/106307/

CHRISTINE O'DONNELL, President, The S.A.L.T.: My name is Christine O'Donnell. I am the President and Founder of The S.A.L.T. The S.A.L.T. stands for "The Savior's Alliance For Lifting The Truth." We choose sexual purity in our lives. We have God-given sexual desires and we need to understand them and preserve them to be used in God's appropriate context. Our members are committed to be role models, committed to be the salt of the earth. (At condo) Let's Christine O'Donnell figure out where everyone's gonna go. We have a condo, a gorgeous condo that God graced us with at a very reasonable price. This one is all the girls. We got two condos, one for the guys and one for the girls, and the reason that we did that is if we intend to be role models, we have to avoid all appearance of any wrongdoing. Two teenagers and a priest are gonna go here. Gloria doesn't think it's a good idea but... We need to address sexuality with young people and masturbation is part of sexuality but it is important to discuss this from a moral point of view.
CHRISTINE GEDGAUDAS, Marketing Director, The S.A.L.T.: Masturbation is a selfish act and it's a lustful one and we are to walk with pure hearts not adulterous, lusting hearts.
TODD HITCHCOCK, Youth Pastor: The Bible is clear in the fact that it says that any sexual act outside of the realm of marriage is wrong.
JUNICHI SEMITSU: My name is Junichi Semitsu and tonight we're gonna be putting on a program called "Coming To Terms With Masturbation." When we first start the program, it seems that most people are expecting a freak show. We wanted to do a program that made people think about their own value system.
SPEAKER AT PROGRAM: Junichi Semitsu When, where, and how do people learn to feel guilty about masturbation?
PROGRAM ATTENDEE: Religion, Catholic high school.
SEMITSU: One of the things that we particularly enjoy doing is discussing the Victorian techniques to cure masturbation.
SPEAKER AT PROGRAM: It was better to cut off a boy's genitals entirely then to let him go insane or die from masturbating too frequently. Some parents had their sons' foreskins fastened shut with rings, clamps, or staples to prevent erections and masturbation.
