SDSU would get far more National Exposure from being in the Big East then in the MWC. This in turn would afford SDSU a seat at the big boy table when further conference realignment occurs. In addition, because of this National Exposure, SDSU would also be able to recruit more talented players. The one thing that bothers me, and perhaps Sterk can negotiate this, is SDSU's hoops program in the Big West. Why not get an additional travel allowance from the Big East so that SDSU Basketball can also be in the Big East? Imagine the hoops recruits SDSU could bring to the Mesa, if it were to get National Exposure from being in the Big East for hoops?

I am starting to worry that the BE may never do a Western Division. I hope Sterk finds out in Dallas.

Please... can't it all just go away? To just capitulate to Thompson would be SDSU's biggest mistake ever. Hang in there, Sterk and Hirschman. Do NOT capitulate!

For the MWC trolls:
RT @amorecourant: #uConn AD Warde Manuel, though spokesman, said joining catholic 7 in bb and mt west in fb "is nothing we would consider"

still believe if SDSU can get a promise for a Football and BASKETBALL division from the BE , that would be best deal , with SDSU, Houston, SMU, Memphis, Tulsa, Tulane , possibly 1 -3 true Western teams, would have better potential then MW in football other then BSU. Basketball -guess SDSU, Memphis, SMU, Houston, could be even better then the MW with UNLV, UNM, CSU. Better TV markets , money, recruiting areas, name recognition. If the BE can hang together, they can make it work ,but SDSU needs a basketball conference. Sterk has to do whatever is needed to keep MBB out of the Bus(h) League.

Leverage against our two ONLY options! what else did you have on mind? Go to the SEC? go to the Pac12? Start our own conference and have no one follow us? Come on man! understand who we are and who we aren't. And therefore what we can and cannot do. Big East and MW are our only option, and for a school like us, they are both good options either way with their own pros and cons between each other. No, they are both bad options. Are you drunk? I don't drink. I should be asking you that question because there is something preventing your brain to comprehend reality. What are our other options? There aren't any! MWC or BE, that is it. They both have their pros and cons. what were you expecting? Pac12? Not our decision, weren't invited and were never even considered. Look, it's great that you love sdsu and all, but don't let your love for a school/team to become ignorant of the truth. Reality is that we are a middle of the road football program. Most would consider us below that, and they have every right to. So, the MWC is a great conference for us right now, and the BE would be a great conference for us right now assuming it won't fall apart. MWC is the safe play right now. Instead of slandering and not backing up the crap is spewing out of your mouth...how about you actually participate and lay down some facts.

Sent from my DROID RAZR using proboards Making a new conference would be the 3rd option, but it isn't a realistic option this year and it is not an option that is even being considering since we would need a handful of other schools to be on board with us. You got to think about that part. You can't just make a new conference and think teams will follow. The only schools we would get are the new mexico states, utsa, texas states, cal poly, etc. The teams in the MWC wouldn't follow us as long as the mwc is in tact. So, ya making a new conference would be a 3rd option. But, a whole lot worse than our other two options. It would be a similar conference to what the wac was. A far inferior conference to the MWC and Big east.

Aresno and Thompson are both effing morons. Actually, their bosses are. Both need to divest themselves of some of the dead wood they're stuck with. Can they do so? Not a chance. Zero, nada, no way. If, gawd forbid, we are forced by the total ineptitude of the nBE to return to the MWC, the only thing that will save us is to lead a charge to totally reject any increase in the exit fee. Assuming we're successful in putting the kibosh on that, it will inevitably lead to another airport meeting. Hopefully, the semi-valuable members of the nBE will similarly be able to quash an increase to the nBE's exit fee so they will be available to create the Best of the Rest conference they and we need to save ourselves. That said, I haven't gotten drunk since New Year's Eve but feel compelled to do so tonight concerning the miserable report from Blaudshun over what occurred at the BE meeting today.

I say we stay in the mwc until us and other worthy schools can create their own conference. Like I said, if we just create a conference right now at the last minute, we won't get the right followers. We will only get those low end reject schools or schools transitioning from FCS to FBS. So, why reject the BE and the MWC for an even crappier conference?

More or less "Dog bites Man" tweets. Obviously he's weighing the options. I remain firmly in the Big East camp...I favor taking a try at establishing a national profile with the BE over remaining in our current small and under publicized regional conference. a concise, compendious, pithily succinct summary.

You honestly think we can get boise, byu and 5-9 more worthy enough schools to join us within a few months? look, I agree that is the better deal in the long run, but it has to have more foundation underneath it for us to reject the mwc and big east, and run...hoping that people follow.

Sent from my DROID RAZR using proboards I wasn't saying it to you lol. A guy in this thread saying something is a bad Idea but not laying down the facts. He just likes saying it's a bad idea lol. I then gave my standpoint and he called me a drunk lol. So I told him before he slanders again, he should know what he is talking about...or at least respond with facts supporting his claim, rather than just disagreeing. see with you, you actually disagreed with my view but laid down facts to support it. You laid down really good facts, of which I agree with...in the long run of this school.
