Mark Zeigler @sdutzeigler Anyone who says SDSU has made up its mind on conference realignment is dead wrong. AD Jim Sterk is in Dallas for Big East meetings today.
Mark Zeigler @sdutzeigler I expect a decision from SDSU sometime next week. Sterk will consider what he learns from Big East, then weigh that vs. what MW is offering.

Using the leverage...I like the strategy...this is an old fashioned MWC/BE game of poker

This is just like a leverged buy out or acquistion. The schools attorney's and advisors opinions need to be fully formulated before the decision is made. This is one of he biggest decision that I can remember in a long time. The decision will have a far reaching consequences on our athletic and financial future.

I am glad he is looking at everything and taking the time to weigh the options. I wonder what kind of deals Aresco worked out with ESPN/ FOX, that might entice Sterk. I have to wonder also if MBB will be part of the TV offerings.

I can't make up my mind. At first I was thrilled with the Big East then with Boise going back to MTN I went that way. Then after reading Ziegler's piece last week I was back to siding with Big East and now I'm back to thinking we should stay in the MWC. I need therapy.

More or less "Dog bites Man" tweets. Obviously he's weighing the options.
I remain firmly in the Big East camp...I favor taking a try at establishing a national profile with the BE over remaining in our current small and under publicized regional conference.

I'm flip flopping like John Kerry in 2004, and I am not ashamed to admit it LOL. Financially, yes.....The Big East is most likely the way to go. Even their dwindling television value should certainly surpass the chicken feed SDSU will get from the Mountain West. It just SUCKS....really the only way to say it, SUCKS....to take hoops to the Big West. I really like our conference opponents in the MWC. But f x x x it, it is what it is. Whatever Sterk decides is best, I will support. And hope we can continue to attract the national recruits we only very recently started to sign. Thank goodness we have Viejas (and Fish of course).

Using the leverage...I like the strategy...this is an old fashioned MWC/BE game of poker Leverage against two bad options. Leverage against our two ONLY options! what else did you have on mind? Go to the SEC? go to the Pac12? Start our own conference and have no one follow us? Come on man! understand who we are and who we aren't. And therefore what we can and cannot do. Big East and MW are our only option, and for a school like us, they are both good options either way with their own pros and cons between each other.

Either way we will be good if our alumni and community keep supporting and growing. But if the money is there in the nBE...we have to go. Even if the Bball has to do the BW thing for a few years.

still believe if SDSU can get a promise for a Football and BASKETBALL division from the BE , that would be best deal , with SDSU, Houston, SMU, Memphis, Tulsa, Tulane , possibly 1 -3 true Western teams, would have better potential then MW in football other then BSU. Basketball -guess SDSU, Memphis, SMU, Houston, could be even better then the MW with UNLV, UNM, CSU. Better TV markets , money, recruiting areas, name recognition. If the BE can hang together, they can make it work ,but SDSU needs a basketball conference.
