UNM fans are gross, first swearing and cursing at Winston on twitter for choosing SDSU, then fans calling Jamaal the n-word at the MWC tourney last year, now shoving opposing players around the baseline, [mod's note: text in violation of board rules deleted], get it together New Mexico Every fanbase has it's LCD, and even it's outliers, our no more than yours. However, you know as well as I do that no fan called Jamaal the N-word. He flipped the ref off and tried to blame it on a NM fan. It was refuted by SDSU fans sitting in the area, at least two reporters, and the video. Calling Snake a child molester says FAR more about you, what you find entertaining to say or do, and the levels you will stoop to than it ever could about Snake, UNM, or Lobo fans. Can't wait to play you guys, but this crap gets old. P.S. I am pretty certain that calling someone a Child Molester, of all things, would have consequences on most forums. Complete and utter lack of class, to put it about as mildly as humanly possible. Mod's note: absolutely correct.

no surprise he went to UNLV and was reared in New Mexico - he acts like a punk and is a ***** about it. Hell, if you're going to get banned at least do something other than a limp wrist tap

call it what you want, it wasnt the shove necessarily, it was the attempt to intimidate. The fan was attempting to intimidate??? You have lost it. /shrug would rather call them thugs then New Mexico. preference, semantics, whatever.

WOW i wish Marshall would've knocked that dude the F OUT! i officially hate New Mex wayyy worse than UNLV now. Not sure why, but i do. Because you are irrational? First this guy graduated from UNLV not UNM. Second, and more important, you are hating on a state based on a single incident. A few years ago I was on a bus from UCSD to downtown and witnessed an Asian lady be racially abused. Based on the logic shown on this board by some (not all) I should label you and everyone in CA a racist. Make sense? No because its ridiculous thinking. Or maybe I should think you are racist as some of the language on here towards NM is borderline xenophobic sometimes. But, again, I realize neither this incident nor this messageboard is a microcosm for an entire state. Last, even UNLV fans on rebelnet - who arguably have a greater right to be angry and rebelnet is hardly a beacon of rationality - aren't blaming UNM or the state of NM as a whole. They are blaming the idiot involved. The individual involved. People need to grow up and stop with the boring generalising vitriol it does nobody any favors.

As I sat in the first row of the student sectio for years I can honestly sympathize for the guy. It was a moment of idiocy no doubt, but he knew as soon as he did it that it was the stupidest thing he could have done. He wasn't trying to start a fight or hurt the guy he was just a die hard fan and an opposing player ran into where he was sitting and he wanted to intimidate him.
There were times when opposing players would try to save a basketball from going out of bounds and end up running right into us and every time we would yell in his face but we would never touch him like that. If anything we would move out of the way so he would go flying into the seats and not brace his fall. I think on one occasion when the guy got up to run back on the court I gave him a butt slap.
Final conclusion: Really dumb move by a guy who looked like he knew better as soon as it happened. Also it makes it really funny that he went to UNLV.

Wasn't aimed at you in particular but if you read the collective response there's a decent amount of bile. The thing is this guy is obviously just a straight idiot. Family from NM but lives and works in LV, goes to the T&M more than the Pit each season. Doesn't stop the NM meth references from coming though. It's just boring

Nobody every used a racial term, that is an excuse he made up to try to justify his behavior to them.

99.9% of UNM fans wouldn't think about shoving ANY opposing player...so we can't point finders at the entire UNM fan-base because of one idiot...
Lobo fans are good (although not to the level of Aztec fans). We're going to have our hands full when we go to the Pit later this season...
Most importantly is that we need to hold serve at Viejas next Saturday...EVERYONE needs to come out and fill the seats...we can't afford to let any team come into our house and steal one...

think there should be a warning to all fans/fanatics before all games, do not throw anything onto a sports facility or touch , a player , coach or ref , as we have seen there are too many crazy people out there . Glad it was not serious but you never know and if a player may do something in return. Stay classy it is only a game.

Who cares about a fan pushing an opposing player? He got booted and it could happen anywhere.
More importantly, I want to know who Amanda Goodman is???

As soon as he did it he knew that he had screwed up. He was calm and followed the security guy out with nothing but a guilty look. The same thing could happen at any game and anyplace. To me there are bigger things to hate on UNM about than this incident.

It was a sort of Steve Bartman-esque moment. The guy knew it as soon as he did it that it was the absolute wrong thing to do.
Agree that the title of this thread is wrong -- at least until I go there next month and experience it for myself. It was one guy, caught up in the moment. I find when I travel that fans, in general, are great. They're more interested in the area you're from, what you've seen while in town, etc, than in picking a fight -- unless you make a horse's ass out of yourself.
