"The UW has a terrible home schedule for 2012 with regards to spectating value: San Diego State; Portland State; Stanford; USC; Oregon State; and Utah! Ugh! Gag! somebody's pulling my leg and i know who.
I'm already having some difficulty in finding real college football fans amongst Tailgater's crew who are excited about attending any of these home games other than Stanford or USC........ and perhaps Utah. Interest in the other three home games is from extreme low to lukewarm.
Part of the problem could be that I'm not planning to do any tailgating for the first time since....... I can't remember when. Oh well, it is the Clink and just for one year. But glancing at what we know about future schedules at least for OOC, 2013, 2014, and 2015 with the likes of Idaho State, Eastern Washington (Again!), Sacramento State, and Hawaii visiting new Husky Stadium look like just so much more crap.
Kiss mine and that's no B.S."

I don't see why they should be excited over SDSU, for the most part this has been a average team the last 2 years helped with an easy schedule, SDSU loses best player and second best defensive player, they have no name cache and don't have any history with SDSU.

The same could easily be said about our own home schedule this year.

Man - imagine if the Aztecs had that home schedule?! Would be the best schedule we ever had.

Meh, maybe they'll stay away & it won't be a big crowd behind the "snarling dogs of Montlake"? I'd love to see the team as flat as this guy & the AZTECS get the W!
GO AZTECS!

We have to be careful with that mentality. I think SJSU will be tougher than everyone thinks. Coach Mac is doing a good job of turning the team around. But they do have a new OC. I also expect the Hawai'i and Colo St games to be more exciting than most on here expect. Granted, there are those factors of new HC, coaching staff and schematics. But, those first time HCs are looking to impress and make a statement that they belong in the HC ranks.

It should be said. There isn't a single good home game for SDSU this year. Hence the camouflage unis and probably other means to try to dredge up some excitement for our opponents. Gotta create your own motivation. For me, since I'm so weary of UNLV trolls coming here, I want to see a beatdown of the Rebels, see what North Dakota's team looks like (never even seen them in a DIAA playoff game IIRC), see if we can help prove that 65-year-olds like Norm Chow shouldn't be just starting out as a HC, etc. Or maybe they'll be some hot Hawaiian women in the parking lot before the game. Or maybe some SJSU students will get $#!+-faced and start a fight and I can watch some Aztecs kick their ass. Whatever. I for one always enjoy a win regardless of who it's over.

If you don't like the schedule then you really don't like Aztec football. As SGF says, you create your own motivation. For example, we might not know what we got after UW, but we'll know a lot when we see how Rocky coaches vs. Army. Anyone here who thinks that will be an easy win, is not tuned in. It should be a real barn burner to the end -- 21-20 Aztecs for example. And, I'll take impressive wins in the other games as well. Air Force will not easy either, never is.

If you don't like the schedule then you really don't like Aztec football. Well, that's not a sweeping generalization, nope, not at all. We're not saying that we are going to automatically win every home game because this year's schedule is weak. Obviously that way of thinking is wrong and is nothing more than a fallacy. What we're saying, and even what the UW fan is saying, is that from the outside looking in, our home schedule looks unexciting this year. Filling out sits at the Q will be tough this year, without a doubt. But alas, it's our final year in the MWC and hopefully the move to the BE truly does rejuvenate our football program and the interest it generates in San Diego.

Most of us - except the bball honks - like/love/are obsessed with Aztec Football; most of us also would like to see at least one team of damn interest; and more importantly the diehards are the minority in San Diego, Seattle, most places so a weak ass schedule like this does nothing to energize those that are on the fence.

I remember going to the USC opener, that was a good energized crowd. And having Faulk did not hurt either. How we did not win that game still kills me.

If we win, I have a great time at every game regardless of who we play but I get your point that casual fans want to see somebody a bit better than a Mike Locksley coached New Mexico. But, to repeat, you make your own motivation and it occurs to me that this could be the last time in forever that CSU comes to SD. I've probably seen the Rams 8-10 times so just might get a bit nostalgic sitting in the stands for that one. Of course, the nostalgia will last about three minutes and then I won't care. But I am looking forward to UNLV. I want not just a win but a beatdown since there have been so many annoying butthurt Rebel trolls here recently. And 2013 should be a lot of fun with schools like Louisville or whomever that we've never played before coming to the Q.

If these games are even remotely close it is because the Aztecs have not taken any steps forward. Hawaii is as bad as it gets on the road, Colorado State is mediocre at best, and San Jose State is bad but may make a bowl because of the pathetic WAC.

Hawaii is 2-6 all time against SDSU at Qualcomm and has lost the last five. The average score of those five was 45-22. Gotta think Kaumeyer will pull out all the stops to try to keep us from putting up that many this year but Hawaii returns just four of the starters from a defense which gave up 29 ppg last year and they lose the two guys who were far and away their leading tacklers with 30+ more than anybody else had. We should score often.
