There's no use explaining anything to spgonzo or myownwords.. They both were collegiate coaches at the highest levels and recruited nothing but 5 star athletes their whole career. Post their Nic Saban success, they have become top flight analyst for numerous NFL n college teams in which their efforts have produced the last 15 Super Bowl winners and last 10 NCAA champions... Couple of things y'all obviously missed... 1. The post about Boise n their star ratings.. According to y'all they should have finished dead last those years.. Oh wait Fiesta Bowl Champs.. Summary, let's the coaches recruit players they like, for thier systems, and develop them! 2 According to y'all we should not have gone bowling back to back years and produced no nfl talent.. 2 star V Brown, 3 Star Burris, 2 Star Sampson, 3 Star Lundley, 3 Star Ronnie Hillman, 2 Star Leon McFadden, 2 star Gavin Escobar.. Summary I'll keep taking these guys any day of the week over 5 star Baxter, etc.. How many 4-5 stars UCLA currently have on their roster... And they suck! We all know and understand that yall are the epitome of athletic knowledge and have a legitimate right to your opinion.. As we are entitled to ours.. So with that, Y'ALL DON'T KNOW CRAP! Thanks for reading.. Not sure why some of you seem to be letting your emotions get into this. Boise did well with 2 and then mostly 3-stars because they may have the best coach in the country. And that is a big part of my point: If we cannot get the highly rated recruits then we have to find a way to get to the upper levels another way, and that is where coaching comes in. I have never bashed Rocky and certainly nothing to the extent you've handled yourself toward me. You may have only seen a few of my posts, but I've said many times that I think he's a great guy, a tough coach, and an honorable man. But my OPINION is that we'll need a change by the time we're in the Big East if we don't want to be in the lower half of the division each year.

I would love to hear your response or anyone else's to my questions in the previous post. OK hows this you do not know what you are tlaking about. Should we nad mouth the palyers before they get here,Thatg would look real good.I already posted an answer to your question,. The cart does not come before the horse.I do not think you have an inkling about what goes on in recuiting. You know who pulled whose scholarship offer. Bovine excrement. Coach's never talk about that it is totally anathema. You piss off a high school coach and you are persona non grata. I talk to a couple of DI coaches at least once a week. People on the board know that is reality because my name has been associated with them In the UT and north County times. Only the head coach makes the final say on who gets what, and they do not share it with the public. The Coached at Crenshaw essentially banned SDSU from campus all the time Craft was here because they pissed him off. There is a Sun Devil board go to it. Also, why are using "We' Kimo sabe? My note said the info came from a Rivals.com publisher and writer off the record. It was not public info, hence why I did not divulge a name. Scholarships are pulled all the time and are tentative in most cases. I say "we" because I am born and raised in San Diego but went to ASU. Does that give me permission to say "we?"

Great source I have talked ot Greg Biggins jeff Duva and others many times. They are not told crap by the coaches it is all rumor. Getting anything befoe th fact is like pulling teeth.Sometimes a guy will eb told if you do not comitt by such a time we can not gurantee opening ,but that is differnt from dropping them for abetter player. Somtimes guys do not recruited because they are determined to pay aposition they are not suited for. According to my buddy who coached in the Big East and is familiar with SDSU our classes good. He thinks another year of wining and entering the Big east will do very well. The best defensive players we have had in ten years he recruited He does belive that Werlls Begg and Rosales will all be excellent ot in afew years if Begg and Wells do not cut it on dfense.

To pull something that RockNFish posted on another thread Boise ratings according to Rivals 2002 - 0 (3*) 2003 - 2 (3*) 2004 - 2 (3*) 2005 - 5 (3*) 1 (4*) 2006/07 - Fiesta Bowl Champions They basically won the Fiesta Bowl using all 2* because I doubt those frosh from 05 were all playing significant roles on that team. So to say "Boise did well with 2 and then mostly 3 stars" is kinda BS.

Wow sweet deflect on that on. This is you: "Hey everybody look over here at this other point that isn't relevant to the current discussion I just got owned on. Don't mind my obscure answer That doesn't deven make sense. After all this is the Internet where I can make up whatever BS I want and when someone proves me wrong I don't even have to acknowledge it. HA! That's the Internet baby!"

Ummmmm weren't you and spgonzo soooooo uninspired about the recruiting class and how only recruiting 4-5 star guys or looking at offer sheets and beating those schools out.. Each individual school recruits to their system regardless of whose offered them and their star rating.. UCLA had a top ten recruiting class a couple years back with the Gatorade player of the year... And they stink.. As does that player! But keep spitting out your nonsense so u can keep getting it stuck right back to y'all!

I keep pointing out the troubles we face and you keep reinforcing my observations. Actually, I think you've done a better job. Thank you. It's coaching that gets the recruits and creates winners. Right now---in my opinion--- I'm not seeing stunning results in either category and that is disappointing.

Then start a new topic on coaching but don't try to reverse tread, tuck tail, and run because your whole point of "not being inspired by this class, recruiting 4 stars, offer list argument" got handed back to you ten fold and then sum. You obviously have no clue about recruiting so on to the next topic..
Coaching not inspiring you? .500 record at UNM with The rock and now in 2 short years they are back to the laughing stock on college football. First year at SDSU and he goes. 8-5 bowl game with new coordinator.. Either your Nick Saban or you and spgonzo are roommates on that one ship leading to.... Nowhere. Only thing that matters my friend are not your opinions but facts and go ahead and read the paragraph again. Argue those facts... Okay bye bye

It is sorrowfull that so many coaches do not have the insight of some on this board. UA has 20 comitts 8 of whom are worthless two stars.WAZZU 8 of 10 two stars,God what a dumb Coach whats his career record 4-80? The Unviersity of Coors at Boulder 8 of 12 are two stars ,Awesome Sunstorke Univedristy has only five Comitts 1 **Univeristy of Bejing at Berkeley two star. 2 of 8 I think it's blatantly obvious that these PAC 12 coaches are incompetent. If they were half as wise as geniuses Biggins, and the other guys at Rivals and Scout, they would never offer these kids. It is so fortunate for us on the Mesa that we have experts to straighten the coaches out . Of course we must remind ourselves that the PAC 12 doesn't require as good as players as the mighty Mountain West or the BCS juggernaut the Big East. When someone has coached for 40 years or more they get a pretty good idea of how to evaluate talent.(Otherwise they'd be employed at ESPN as experts )Now I realize thye do not have the the expertise of the rating services, Wou don't get fired when the wrong. There is little doubt that Rocky Long makes the final decision on who gets offered, with input from staff. Considering the amazing job they did at New Mexico with scant resources, and a successful tenures at Oregon State and UCLA I tend to trust his judgment. Of course some of you would like to be like New Mexico, and become a basketball school. As I said earlier there is nothing I care less about the basketball it's again that's only exciting in the last 5 min. However some of you love BB and I suggest that you post like Hell about it. That way you won't have time enough to annoy me with your moaning and complaining about a coach who's been for 40 years evaluation of an athlete's potential.

Okay bye bye Your recitation of Rocky's career at New Mexico has been thrown around many, many times and I'm still unimpressed. The fact that he never moved up from there is the truly telling aspect of that dreary record. Obviously those in powerful positions around the country---who have for MANY years evaluated coaching, with openings showing up EVERY year---did not find him of sufficient gravitas to hire him away from the football dungeon that is New Mexico. Cal Poly or University of San Diego would have been a step up.

Washington State is rated 56th (we are 80th) with five 3-stars and one 4-star.

But when someone starts a polemic with somewhat misleading statistics, I lose enthusiasm for trying to respond to multiple paragraphs of tainted information. I might have come back to it later, but for now that was enough.
