When Fish calls those plays, who does he call it for? Not Jamaal. Maybe this year. That wasn't asked of him last year. EXACTLY... which is why I don't believe his game is necesarily more geared towards the NBA. Jamaal's game is more suited for the 3 position in the NBA... but he is woefully undersized for an NBA small forward. Those plays will continue to be called for Tap and Rahon this year. I disagree. Last year, he was our 4. So at times, he was the one screening. He won't have that burden this season with us having plenty of bigs. I think he'll get some chances to showcase his talent.

There is a lot of crack smoking going on at SDSU. Jamaal is great - I am so glad he is an aztec. I cheer the guy all the time. But he isn't even a lottery pick. No way, not close. Kawhi is WAY better all around - and he wasn't a pick. Kawhi had tons of respect from all corners. Jamaal isn't close. Jamaal will share the court with some pretty legit talent this year. Last year he picked up loads of Rahon's points, X's points, even Tap didn't have a stellar year and left a few buckets extra for JF. JF is our best player, he is awesome, very fun to watch. He ain't gonna be no lot-pick. That is just dreaming. Pass the crack pipe. Might be a bit strong, but alot of truth to this.....in my opinion...

I am not about to underestimate Jamaal. It is possible he could be a top pick next year. If he can show a dramatic improvement to his outside game and become the person who makes the team better through savvy play, sure why not? If he starts launching 35 shots per game and gets into frequent foul trouble, then no.
The sky is the limit, but IMO Coach Fisher would be wise to not play him every minute of every game ala Brandon Heath. Keep him hungry and fresh for the MWC tournament.

Jamaal will lead all guards in FG% and FT%, cut down on his turnovers, create more assist, get way more steals on the perimeter, shoot a better % from 3, and lead the nation in scoring. When he's a lottery pick in June, I can't wait to read the threads on this board.

But it's possible for him to be among the nations leaders in those categories also.

If it's even conceivable for Jamaal to be a Top 20 pick before the season starts, how could someone think it's "impossible" for him to be a Top 14 pick? Please explain.

Jamaal is not a 'consensus' Top 20 pick by any stretch of the imagination. I've seen some draft boards with him at 19 and some with him not in the first round.

He'll be a lottery pick based on how he kills in College and leads SDSU back to the tourney. The Drew League just showcases his pure scoring ability and dunking prowess.

How could you think this guy isn't a lottery pick?? LOL Marco Bellanelli TORE up the summer leagues after being drafted by the Warriors a number of years back... averaged 30+/game... all us Warrior fans were ecstatic... and then... well... ANYBODY EVER HEARD OF MARCO? The summer leagues are ABSOLUTE GARBAGE. There is no defense played at all. It's a glorified And1 waste of time. Perhaps you should hound all of the folks that put together mock drafts and ask them why Jamaal isn't projected as a lottery pick???

My projections are forward thinking based on what he is capable of doing in the coming season. nbadraft.net projects him Top 20 based on what he did last year. I'm guessing that he'll jump at least 6 spots before its all over. You say there is NO chance, I say there is a great chance, thats all. I agree with you, summer means nothing, just fun to watch.

The 2012 stats on goaztec.com, the MWC POY Award, All American Honorable mention, and Top 20 draft projections still leave some Aztec fans with doubt.
