I think experience and general opinion, but you're right, you can use that site if you want, it's personal preference. In my experience DraftExpress has been the best, but maybe that's just me. The fact that draft express doesn't even have a profile for Jamaal limits its credibility. Projections have proven to be way off when it comes to Jamaal. ESPN College basketball experts didn't give him a single vote for POY and he ended up winning in a land slide.

The Jamaal we saw this year was far better than the Jamaal we saw last year. I suspect the 2012-2013 Jamaal will be far better than the MWC POY we saw this year. He will have a better cast surrounding him and will play more 3rd guard than 4th guard. That will change a lot about his relation to the team, opponent, and game. It will be interesting to see how he improves over the off-season and during next year. He improved a lot during this basketball season.
I find it funny that the same people that were totally convinced that Jamaal had no chance at being the MWC POY are now totally convinced that he has no chance of being a lottery pick. Some people never learn.

I'm curious to see if people still think Jamaal won't be a lottery pick after this year season. He's currently projected in the Top 20 before the season even starts.

If I can see that his game is better suited for the NBA, than surely the NBA talent evaluators can. Players that translate better in NBA are the ones that get picked higher.

Yup and his game is NBA suited. He needs better handles, but he has the NBA flopping down like Kobe. I don't mind it when it's a player on a team I root for. :-)

The most sought after attributes for a draft pick at the SG position is the combination of youth, athleticism, and scoring ability. I'll let you decide if Jamaal fits that mold.

Every time I see a thread like this, I am curious as hell as to how you know Jamaal. Seriously, if you are his brother or his uncle, I totally get it. If not...

The most sought after attributes for a draft pick at the SG position is the combination of youth, athleticism, and scoring ability. I'll let you decide if Jamaal fits that mold. A lottery level NBA prospect at the shooting guard position HAS to be able to come off screens... and drill18-22 footers. I was only able to watch about a dozen or so games last year... but I can't remember a single time where Jamaal came off a screen and popped the J (and I don't mean just make the shot... I mean I've never seen the Aztecs run Jamaal off of a baseline or elbow screen... period). There are lots of great shooters/scorers in the college game that don't translate to the NBA because they simply can't get their shot off. In the NBA, there is no dribble down the court and shoot pull-up uncontested threes all day. If Jamaal improves in two key areas: shooting the J off of screens and being able to dribble-drive left... then YES, he has a CHANCE at being a low end lottery pick next year. I'm still of the opinion that Jamaal will be picked around 20-25.

I am much more interested in what he will do for the Aztecs. Jamaal excelled last year as the 4th guard. It will be interesting seeing him play a true wing position.
SDSU had a strange team last year. They played 4 guards but were second to last in Assists, last in Steals, last in 3 point field goal attempts, and second to last in 3 point percentage. Yet near the top in rebounding and FG%. That is just the opposite of what you expect from 4 guards.
Jamaal conference stats 19 Assists 49 Turnovers 8 Steals
Tapley conference stats 24 Assists 22 Turnovers 20 Steals
Jamaal needs those numbers to look more like Tapley's.

EXACTLY... which is why I don't believe his game is necesarily more geared towards the NBA. Jamaal's game is more suited for the 3 position in the NBA... but he is woefully undersized for an NBA small forward. Those plays will continue to be called for Tap and Rahon this year.

There is a lot of crack smoking going on at SDSU. Jamaal is great - I am so glad he is an aztec. I cheer the guy all the time. But he isn't even a lottery pick. No way, not close. Kawhi is WAY better all around - and he wasn't a pick. Kawhi had tons of respect from all corners. Jamaal isn't close. Jamaal will share the court with some pretty legit talent this year. Last year he picked up loads of Rahon's points, X's points, even Tap didn't have a stellar year and left a few buckets extra for JF. JF is our best player, he is awesome, very fun to watch. He ain't gonna be no lot-pick. That is just dreaming. Pass the crack pipe.
