Alec Williams has been skipping practices and and had a few verbal conflicts with coaches. Don't know if this is true or not but just to be the Devil's Advocate, who could blame him? He didn't play in the last 8 games, has exactly 39 minutes since conference play started, and even Narbeh Ebrahimian got in over him in the TCU game. What's the point of practicing if you're never going to get in the game? The writing isn't just on the wall here, it's flashing in neon on a billboard. A big reason he stopped playng was because he stopped going to practice. You have it upside down.

To play devil's advocate, if he skipped multiple practices, I doubt he'd be travelling with the team (but rather be suspended). Hopefully him not getting PT is just an issue of merit.

I don't see what's so confusing re: AW. When he gets on the floor, AW doesn't understand the role Fisher needs him to play. He jacks up 3s, fades away on the post, defends with hands on the hip, etc.
Narbeh subbed in over AW because Fish can trust him to contribute what's needed off the bench - run the offense, defend 100%, and provide a couple minutes of rest time.
AW skipping practice, mouthing off to coaches, killing hookers, etc., is total BS. Fish wouldn't put up with that. AW just doesn't understand (or is unwilling to comply with) his role. It's as simple as that.

Ebrahimian was ahead of him in the rotation for awhile. If AW couldn't get any min this year... then next yr will be almost impossible for him to get any. If he is on pace to graduate Fish will prob want to keep him for our API score. As I mentioned before maybe he can stay on the squad but pay his own way next yr. So you want to strip AW's scholly and then tell him he will not get any mins next year, oh yeah and by the way, you have to pay for your own school too. And you think he would be cool with that?

I guess you have a good point there. That won't work. Its going to be interesting to see what Fish does if Pelle or January decide they want to come here.

I'm sorry, but being offered a scholarship as a high school senior does not guarantee him 4-5 years at a school. Players have to carry their weight. Players get cut all the time in sports. If AW is not working his ass off in practice and having issues with the coaches, what obligation does Fisher have to keep him on the team? He knew damn well when he signed his LOI that a scholarship is given on a year-to-year basis.

Saying something like that publicly, I think the ball is in our (and AW's or a prep schools) court.

If you take away the scholarship of a player going into his senior year and then give it to a highly touted freshman it will dubbed as "shady" and be used against you on the recruiting trail by other coaches.

Not if that player has not lived up to his end of the bargin. That has nothing to do with how others will use that against us. All they will tell the recruits is the black and white stuff, and likewise the recruits will only see it superficially.

Well, since most programs do this type of thing it probably isn't as much of a recruiting negative as fans tend to think. Plus, none of these kids coming out of high school think they would actually be the one asked to leave the program.
