I'm kinda surprised of the negative posts about Morin. I don't believe he is as refined as Chad Jeffries, but he hasn't received the same type of coaching. IMO, he has a stronger arm and a thicker build plus very good athleticism for the position.
After next year with Katz, I will be intrigued to see who is best positioned to take the job.

It's one guy with an obvious axe to grind.

It's one guy with an obvious axe to grind. Yep. I would say 95% of us are positive on Morin and his opportunity to compete for the QB job over the next 1-4 years. I think he has a good chance to be either the 1 or 2 at the position in the next couple years. If not, he should make a good safety or linebacker. However, let's see how things play out at QB first.

So what if ends up like Darren Mougey?
The best athletes play RB and QB at the HS level and rocky and anyone that knows anything about Morin knows this.
Eat a wiener.

Guess he is expecting to move to MLB. Could he be used as a Tim Tebow type goaline runner?

240 is not tremendously big for a QB. Josh Freeman was 248, Ryan Mallett was 250 or more, Blaine Gabbert neared 240, Cam Newton, etc. Morin could be a valuable goal-line asset as mentioned above, kinda like Blake Bell from Oklahoma. The "Belldozer" package as the Sooners call it.

Honestly I don't think he'll be helping his chances staying on offense showing up to fall practice weighing 240. I bet Rocky will be licking his chops thinking about switching him to D.

6'2" 230 pounds for a qb that depends on tuning the ball is not out of the ordinary. Tim Tebow weighs 236 and is an inch taller.
The guy has the athleticism to be a qb or MLB. Next year, we'll see where he lands on the depth chart. Securing Katz gave SDSU the flexibility to red shirt him and not play Jeffries immediately

Well, where does Dingwell fit into this situation? IIRC, Rocky actually referred to him as "the incumbent" entering spring camp. However, that was only because the other guys are newbies and Jeffries was the scout team QB last fall. Mark my words. Katz will be the starter this year assuming he's healthy and their will be a wide open battle between Dingwell and Jeffries for the backup role. I know Favreau wants to play QB but because he'll see the writing on the wall early and he only has two years of eligibility left, he'll move to safety for fall camp. Based on the Edward Lewis article and this report of Morin wanting to bulk up, I would assume he will redshirt and sort things out from there.

Why would Favreau only have two years eligbility left? Thought he'd still have 5 years to play four after his greyshirt.

Morin is going to redshirt this year I think that's a good idea. I think he should work on adding weight, yes more weight, and getting better at W.E. he needs to work on. In a couple years, he and Favreua (sp) can compete.
