Everybody should take note, Edward also mentioned that per Long, this move would only take place if he is not one of the top three QB candidates after next Spring. So, he is still going to have a shot at being our quarterback of the future.

If he doesn't make it at QB, then we'll move him to LB?? Really? We couldn't find ANY other candidates who actually were LB's? Instead we're just going to put Morin wherever we can? Not very comfortable with that kind of planning. Would rather have just tucked away the scholarship.

If he is as bad as you say, he will move to another position. Position changes happen all the time in college football. It is not a bad thing. It actually shows you are recruiting good athletes.

He is going to give him a shot at playing quarterback for us, however if he is not one of our top quarterbacks after the Spring practices following his red shirt year, then he may consider playing another position. If you are recruiting athletes, there is no guarantee that they will play in their recruited position after they have had a year to learn the system and pick up some collegiate strength training.

myownwords, I would appreciate it if you would post your own words outside of an existing quote, so we can decipher your own words. If you follow college football, you could probably write a book on players recruited for one position and playing another after a few years in college. And yes, some of these guys even went on to play in the NFL in positions other than what they were recruited to play. Good athletes can adjust as they mature.

This - he has a year and a half to earn a spot - like everyone other recruit he will be given a chance to compete and win a spot. Fortunately for us and him, he is an athlete that can play multiple positions if needed.

If its one thing I will never understand its guys coming onto message boards to rip 17 y/o kids. Reminds me of the guys ripping Colt Morrison. If its a personal thing you should say so and don't hide behind the anonymity of the internet.

Everybody relax. A few years back when U$C was winning/competing for the national titles there was a LB named Matt Grooteman (SP?) who started as RS frosh at LB and did so for 4 years. He had been an all-CIF QB from Mater Dei and was a terrific player. Good schools with smart coaches see and understand talent........and put them where they will succeed. Give this coaching staff and players some credit and quit knee-jerking these type of situations.......absolutely absurd. You might be thinking of Matt Grootegoed, but he was an all everything as a safety in HS. He moved to LB at USC.

His name is Matt Grootegoed, and is easily the best high school player I've ever seen. He was a backup QB (to Matt Leinart); his primary position in high school was strong safety and running back. Definitely the best player on a team that had Matt Leinart as well. I was just a freshman at MD when he was a senior, but I can tell you that nobody has worn the number 6 at Mater Dei since he left.

Get the best athletes on campus, let them audition for the position of their choice but move them if they don't make the top layers of the depth chart.
No big deal.

QB of the defense = safety
He has 4.7 speed, if he bulks up let him go LB, if he maintains the same weight or stays under 220 let him go to DB/Safety.

First of all, this rmk guy is a bag of douche. I think Morin must have bagged his daughter or something. As for this non story that everyone is flipping out about, it's just an option in case QB doesn't work out. It's a compliment to how athletic the kid is. You guys act like its the first time we've had a highly touted QB possibly change positions.
