Hombres G---never heard of them They're an 80's spanish rock ban so unless you understand spanish, probably won't be your cup of tea. Awesome band, their early stuff was very Sublime-ish but their newer stuff has really taken on a voice of their own. They're more Jam Band-ish now.

Rise Against (great stuff)
Alice in Chains album from last year, as I am seeing them in October and want to be familiar with the newer stuff.
And...Live. The band Live.

And...Live. The band Live. Great and HIGHLY underrated. And very good Live. Throwing Copper and Mental Jewelry are really good albums front to back. I've been doing a big time, systematic beatles survey I had a gift certificate to best buy and they had Beatles in Mono so I picked that up and after listening to that, the stereo remasters and the first cd releases (and some of the albums do sound better in mono), I've been going through the solo stuff of john, paul and george in order The first Paul album, McCartney, I forgot how good it is, and how Johns stuff was kinda blah until his halves of double fantasy and milk and honey Also going in order through the band All's ( basically the Descendents minus Milo the lead singer) discography - the kings of pop punk. The Cure - 3 imaginary boys, amazing debut album to one of the greatest band of the last 1/4 century

It is almost cliche and trite to say, but what an amazing album - the amount of ground covered on those tracks is crazy, like the song you posted which is a perfect pop song, to the grit of the title track, the sort of rockabilly of brand new cadillac, the freaky dub regae of Guns of Brixton, ska of Rudy can't fail, Love the Clash.

KISS, in those stupid Dr. Pepper commercials. They are so annoying. Biggest sell outs ever.

way higher. Rolling Stone had it #1 for awhile. One of the top 500 albums ever, maybe higher.

Also I go through phases with regard to their solo stuff. Right now I like Lennon's stuff except Double Fantasy. McCartney (and Wings) had a lot of unappreciated solo material. Just because he charted a lot of singles doesn't necessarily make him bad (unless you're a music critic). Do yourself a favor and go get Flowers in the Dirt and Driving Rain. McCartney is just a flat out stud, and I like basically all his stuff. The Flowers in the Dirt Tour was the first concert I went to after I bugged the family to take me.

I have no doubt that the critics have it much higher than top 500. Great album. However for it to be #8 is impossible in my mind because almost every Beatles album and most of the first ten Stones albums are all better. Probably at least three Who albums too. The problem I see is even the beatles in an album (not a career) don't really do anything different, the Stones are especially a one trick pony. London Calling does so much, so much different, and so much of it well, that it should be a top 10 album.

Every single track on London calling is amazing and completely different than the one before it and after it.

Also what Beatles, Stones and Zeppelin Albums are amazing from start to finish? Every single track on London calling is amazing and completely different than the one before it and after it. You guys don't get it. Every Beatles song except the White Album, every Stones album until Mick Taylor left (and many thereafter), and every pre-1979 Zeppelin song is automatically better than all other songs by all other groups. I think the age of the people discussing comes into play... the mid to late 60's to about 1973 were the Renaissance of Rock music. A lot of things just hadn't been done yet and the artists had a lot of creative freedom. There are many many albums from this period where every single song was great. I won't even attempt to list...but I could probably list 50 no problem. For example, Eric Clapton's lead on the first Cream album (Fresh Cream) during "I'm So Glad" was considered cutting edge by it's length and creativity.... 20 years later it wouldn't even raise an eyebrow. Jimi Hendrix's leads were like something from outer space, nothing like it had ever been heard before. You probably could find 10-year olds playing his licks on YouTube today. Nothing against the Clash... and the early 80's produced some great music. Stones..."one trick pony"?....yes after about 1975.. I agree, however, before that they were incredibly diverse and wrote great great stuff...and they were arguably considered The Greatest Rock n Roll Band in the World".
