He looks real smooth. Already pretty polished. He certainly would look good in an Aztec uniform. Hope Fisher and Bland can reel him in!!

Tony Bland is in Vegas for his game tomorrow. I think the Hamilton Bros are in Vegas for the UNLV/UNM game too, wonder if Tony will swing by and make his presence known?

ryanmgreene Ryan Greene Winston Shepard listed 7 schools today: UConn, St. John's, Oregon, New Mexico, San Diego State, #UNLV, Okla. State. Will take 4 more visits.

Don't see the 2 Big East schools being able to jump in, especially St. John's. They are a MESS right now.

Shepard's recruiting has definitely evolved a little. For a long while, he had 5 schools listed and said he'd pick from one of those, even if he got other offers: New Mexico, SDSU, UTEP, UNLV, and Oklahoma State. I remember UNM, SDSU, and UTEP seemed like his favorites for a while. It'll be interesting how this turns out. He does seem like a guy that thinks for himself so I think all of the teams listed probably have a decent shot. Re: visits, he's taken one to UNM.

Mr. Shepard is understandably waiting for, and will likely sign with, the biggest name (prestige-wise) who'll reach out to him.

I don't think he has any intention of coming either to New Mexico or here. IMO he is waiting for some more other big names...like a Kansas or someone...to surface and will go with a bigger brand name. I think if it were between us, New Mexico and OK State, we'd have a really good shot once he makes visits....but now that UCONN in the mix, and probably others to come...I think he'll pick the biggest stage. I think Norvel is probably our best shot right now as long as he gets his grades together. Hopefully we land him.

Pelle and Shepard are some of the top (if not the top) recruits we have ever had a chance at landing, and I don't think we are out of the picture that easily. With that in mind, it makes sense that the two would take their time deciding. Shepard has said a number of times that Jalen Rose is his favorite player ever, and being coached by Fisher would be something he would like very much.

Yeah but you can't discount the UCONN boosters jumping in late with a little under-the-table $. Happened last year when they basically jumped in the DeAndre Daniels race on the last day and stole him from us, Kansas, Texas and Oregon. $$$ talks.
