He did look good but so did most of the Findlay Prep squad. Winston is only one of many top recruits on that team. And it sure would have helped if that game was BEFORE the Bishop Gorman game. I was still putting my eyeballs back in their sockets after watching Shabazz's game.

Shepard has a very good court awareness he showed that he can play within the team by not forcing his shot but getting his teammates involved by passing the ball looking for cutters to the basket. He can get up and down the floor and can handle the ball for a player his size.
He needs to work at being stronger around the rim with the ball, there were times where he would get a rebound and on the putback it would slip out of his hands. Ball handling is good but would like to have seen how well he is with his left hand, most of the game you could tell his right is his dominant side.
He plays with a good motor and I could see how people have viewed him being a point forward on offense, he is an ideal SF but he can play the 1 & 2. He could play the 4 but he would be pushed around a lot. Impressed with his passing ability and no doubt he can finish on fast breaks and has good lateral quickness.
He is comparable to Jalen Rose and he would be a great pick-up for SDSU.

So where are the rebel and lobo fans to tell us this article is BS? Que that lobo clown , mark, coming over here with that same old "doom and gloom" news that Shepard is definetly not coming here. Seriously though, who would ever choose Albuqureque, New mexico over San Diego, Ca??? Especially when it come's to desination and overall style of play. After watching the Simeon/Findley prep match up/blowout yesterday, not only was I impressed with Winston Shepard, he reminded me A LOT of Kawhi, and the role he played when he came here. And I mean A LOT. Come on, Shepard. You're style of play is definetly more suited over here under Fisher and co than the style of play under Alford. Not to mention San Diego, CA is a hell of a lot better destination than Albuqureque, New Mexico, to say the least!

I guess I'll look like a fool when he makes his decision then. I stand by what I said. And no, he's not just flat out dropping programs. Like I said before. He will still take 5 visits. St Johns and Oregon St have no shot of getting into the recruitment.

I'm more worried about UConn who has entered the mix than UNLV and New Mexico. One of the reasons Shepard is waiting until the spring is because he was hoping for big time offers which are going to start coming in over the next 2 weeks.

I'd rather have guys that want to play here than be thought of as a lesser offer. Look at the Arizona and the state theyre in, they get some of the best recruiting classes year in and year out, but we always beat them. You'd think these kids would eventually learn.

It's about perception and Brand Name. They also have parents that don't know squat about SDSU & remember the Arizona of the past.

Shepard will be going head to head against Shabazz Muhammad on Saturday and if he has a good game you’ll see a lot more programs get into the mix. The game is at 2 PM (PST) and on ESPNU.

Not to be a downer, but we've beat them the last two times we've played - they owned us before that and they did make it to the elite 8 last year. Not saying recruits should pick them over us, but let's keep things in perspective... we need a decade of success (ncaa tounament) before top recruits consider us by default like they do the brand name schools.

SDSU has 4 underclassmen starters that will likely be starters next year as well. That could weigh on Shepard's decision.

I don't think he'd transfer over not starting. It would have happened already. If Shepard starts and Jamaal comes off the bench, Shepard would have to be special which means the Aztecs would be amazingly deep! I hope you're right. But we still need to get Shepard first.

Pretty much figured this would happen, wait til a top tier program offers. I don't see us having a shot anymore, neither does New Mexico.

He's waiting to see which teams will be good next year AND have a guaranteed starting spot waiting for him. No Top player with lots of choices wants to come in as a backup if they can choose.
