No one loves the Big West deal but it is better then the whole MW deal. The fans and coaches from UNM and UNLV are trashing SDSU.Time for Aztec supporters to buy in with both feet to support the program. Fellow season ticket holders should send a message to recruits - that we are ready to reorder our tickets now for 2012 and 2013- Aztecs for Life - no matter what conference. Coaches need to get Pelle , Shepard ....... here for a visit. Sterk needs to find way to get on the selection group for March Madness

Sure the Big West isn't a great conference, but neither is the Mountain West. The thing we need to sell recruits is San Diego State, and that's it! I've never seen the Mountain West as a great recruiting tool, and I don't see why that's any different now that we're leaving. If we need a great conference to sell our school, then we don't deserve great recruits. This whole "woe is me" attitude and pessimism that the Big West is going to destroy our hoops program isn't helping anything. We just need to support our school and show the recruits why we became the best hoops program on the West Coast. It had nothing to do with the Mountain West and everything to do with SDSU and if they come, they can continue that tradition!
And if they don't come, then we move on to the next. We're not going to win every recruiting battle, regardless of our conference affiliation.

I've said it before, I'll say it again -- Steve Fisher built this program while no one was watching via the Witness Protection Program known as the MTN. Imagine what he will do when people can actually see us on ESPN. Not to mention, after we leave, the MWC becomes a 2 team conference. CSU has hit their ceiling. Wyoming just lost to Denver. Air Force? Fresno? Come on. The MWC is on it's last good season. Despite what Rebel and Lobo fan wants to believe, they are done!

Until he actually commits, I still believe we are very much in the running for Pelle and NO WAY does our move to the Big West impact his decision. He is friends with Spencer (2012 recruit) and really missed So Cal. He'll also get a chance to play on ESPN and not likely more than 1 year in the Big West anyway.

Its because of these reasons that I think the BW might have a bigger role in this than some are willing to admit. By all accounts, he was a lock a month ago. He had a ton of tweets about missing CA, wanting to be home in Long Beach, etc. He is friends with Spencer, Polee, Isaac Hamilton. SDSU is just 90 minutes away from his home town - it really was the perfect fit for him. Its also because of those reasons that I think we might still have an outside chance at him. To have such strong rumors regarding UNLV this late in the game though, I have more doubts than anything. is Pelle's H.S. on break or are they playing in a T. Is he allowed to have official visits , considering his commitment last year to St. John's. If he is, then would guess he would visit all Universities he is thinking about- before he makes any decision. Get him to the V- when we have a sell out. If he loves So Cal , would also enjoy the T ,we are playing in next year- Hawaii- Aloha

Sucks SDSU is leaving the MTN. Going to miss playing SDSU, BYU, UTAH. Was the best conference in the West and good for recruiting for all teams. Sadly yes, the MTN will be even worse next year with only UNM and UNLV really contending. SDSU will dominate the Big West more than likely. However, saying SDSU will get more exposure because you'll be on ESPN is laughable. UNLV played UCSB ranked and wasn't even streaming on ESPN 3. ESPN IS BIAS EAST COAST. You'll be lucky to stream the game online..So I would say going to a weaker conference isn't helping us or yourselves. Possibly hurting yourselves more IMO.
That being said.. UNLV landing Pelle could help us bring in Shabazz Muhammad or Anthony Bennett.
PG: Anthony Marshall (10 ppg 4 rpg 5 apg) SG: Bryce Jones (USC transfer...Shabazz childhood friend.) SF: PRAY TO GOD: Shabazz Muhammad PF: Mike Moser ( 14 ppg 12 RPG...2nd in nation) C: Norvel Pelle
Would be a nasty lineup for UNLV to get deep into march.

Why is that? Give me logical reasoning.. Because your uniforms aren't blue and your coach isn't named Krazasadoiyasettski or Calipari

A few days ago, Anthony Bennett listed the teams recruiting him the hardest and rattled off about 5 teams, but not UNLV. If UNLV lands Pelle, it would help with Shabazz but who knows with him - everybody - Duke, UNLV, UCLA, Kentucky all think they're in the lead.

Grant Rice is his HS head coach.. Dave Rice's brother. His teamate and friend Demitris Morant signed. Childhood and family friend Bryce Jones transferred from USC...(their dads played at USC together.) Katin Reinhardt another friend signed with UNLV. Lives in Vegas..UNLV fans swarm his HS games..Is courtside every rebel game..including win over UNC. He's One and done...college life isnt meaning much to him. UNLV is one of the best programs out west...Currently ranked with returning solid players. He likes the Rebel offense style. He can play to his individual advantages since we are mostly a transition create your own offense type of team.
He either falls for Coach Cals recruiting tactics or becomes a hometown hero and stays in Vegas..but you saying we have no shot is as laughable as saying you'll be on national tv through ESPN next season..

Wait, isn't that our pitch? No, it's not. Our pitch is San Diego State, Viejas Arena, the Show, great atmosphere, and a chance to compete for a national championship. If we were using our conference as a pitch to recruits, then we'd have trouble landing anyone. Jesus, the MWC isn't exactly prestigious.

FYI guys. Most recruits could care less about Arenas, fans, or the style of living. All they care about is the coaches, exposure, and facilities. Thats just the facts. Many might come out later and say this or that but kids commit to schools based on what I said above. All that other stuff is just cherries on top.
