Is SDSU a dying breed.. allowing fans to buy beer inside the stadium? Nope. Actually it may be making a comeback. This article says about 3 dozen NCAA schools (out of 120) allow beer sales inside their stadiums. online.wsj.com/article/NA_WSJ_PUB:SB125271416817105157.htmlAt last check, SJSU, and Fresno St. both allowed beer sales. No where back east that I've been. Any other college events where you could buy beer? This is the last thing I'll say but it's pretty funny how far we've gone. Back in the mid 80's I was the Sports Dir. for the campus station and one year we played at UCLA. They had an old style press box and inside there in our booth where we were to broadcast was an ice chest. We thought, that's nice.. sodas for us. We opened it and it was full of canned Heineken. Then during SDSU FB games at Jack Murphy.. the visiting announcers would always watch us because we knew even though the taps in the Press Box didn't have any handles on them, they still had beer flowing. (from Padre games).. so we always helped ourselves to many beers and other visiting press followed suit. Fun times.

It has been a while since I have been there. I don't know about San Jose State.

Back in the late 70's, it didn't matter if stadiums sold beer. We were alllowed to take in plastic milk jugs filled with beer, taken right off the keg at the frat tailgate parties. Them were some good times.

Them were some good times. True dat. I recall several times before a game, pulling into a 7-11 with a bunch of buddies, each of us buying a gallon of milk, walking outside, pouring the milk into the gutter, piling back into the car and then speeding off. I'm sure the cashier would watch all this, scratch his head and mutter to himself about how all college kids were insane.

My roomates played on the basketball team and were told by Coach Vezie that he better not see them carrying in milk jugs or they would be in trouble. I was the smallest guy and had to carry all the beer in.

Drinking warm, milky Schlitz out of an old milk jug? ...though it was probably great as a college student

What bugs me about no beer at Viejas is that they sell wine and beer at the concerts, so why not basketball?

What bugs me about no beer at Viejas is that they sell wine and beer at the concerts, so why not basketball? I believe it's an NCAA thing for sporting events at on campus venues. Concerts wouldn't fall under the same rules.
