Actually you have danced around the question many times. As I understand your answer you got tired of being an Aztec groupie after a year and were made an offer you could not refuse, but you did not make much money. However, being a civil servant was fun and satisfying. Is that about right? How does being a small businessman fit into that?

I made the bulk of my money in seven years in business and the payout lasted for twenty years. I did not have to spend much so we are comfortable now. I was still too young to do nothing, so I went to work after a year doing something that I knew and enjoyed. Pretty simple and no dancing. That is more than I should share, but what the dickens?

A real believer in capitalism would have started a new business and added to the wealth of our nation rather than having fun sucking on government tit.

A troll who does not even understand there are many ways to employ capital!

OK. A real believer in capitalism would have started a new business and added to the wealth of our nation rather than having fun sucking on government tit. Just as I thought! A troll! A troll who does not even understand there are many ways to employ capital! The point is that you did not want to compete in the market. You said you were good at it, but were content to have fun and make a little money as a GS-7 or something. You say you made money in the private sector, but you obviously did not like it. Far better to have the comfort of that steady government job than to actually compete in the market. Why would anyone give your opinion of what small business needs any thought? You were afraid to be a small businessman. That is what this is about. Yoda knows what it is like to be self-employed. Did you really? You were already retired from the Navy. You had a pension and health care paid by the government. Nice safety net, small businessman.

I think I have found a person who has yet to get to a place where he can enjoy life while keeping his capital working. You guys make me laugh! I will talk about your sorry situation tomorrow on the golf course.

Can't give up a gig like that. ;D Besides, if I retired my younger wife would be pissed that she is still working.

If you could afford to retire, why would your wife work? I think you must be one of those struggling folks that live hand to mouth. Nothing wrong with that, but don't pretend you are something that you are not.
