Man, this is kind of depressing. Also sad that UTEP can offer $30k more to a team than we can. Frustrating that we lost the Ariozona and New Mex State games. Im not going to be very happy only having 4 home games in the non-conference, personally. Usually we get closer to 8 games as season ticket holders.

Thats disappointing to read. Its a little exciting that teams are scared of us (4 or 5 different teams refusing to renew or sign on this year), but the fact that were missing out on so many solid games because of that is sad.
Is there any word on us locking up a home-home with Utah St.? There was some noise about that on here a while back...
Kudos to Fisher for his efforts towards putting together a tough OOC schedule this year, he has really worked his butt off.

With all the away games, one can only hope that most will be on TV.

We already have 2 scheduled with St Mary and Wichita and he said he plans to buy 3 more, but said he would be willing to go on the road again to schedule a tough opponent, but if he can't find that, he will schedule another at home for 6. Last year we had 7 homies, but 2 were against Pt Loma Nazarene and UCSD. Question: would we prefer to see a home game against a cupcake ... or go on road against tougher comp .. Loyola Marymount or USC? If all else fails, we should play USD twice this year, home and home, which would be a true road game but would also allow home fans to go to game.

Already we have problems. The schedule will hurt. No 25 win season now.

We should already have 3 scheduled or confirmed... Wichita State, St. Marys, USD. Chances are we will have at least one exhibition game like we always do. Last year, counting the two exhibiton games, we had 9 home games out of conference. It was also the weakest home schedule that I can remember, it was embarrassing... So, I dont want us to play a bunch of scrubs at home, but Id also like to be able to see our team play-- live and in person -- once in a while. Its obvious that scheduling has become a real problem for us as of late, due to lack of money and teams just being scared to come here. Its frustrating because teams that usually are willing to come here that are decent for our RPI (UCSB, Fresno State, etc) are not willing to do a home and home with us as of right now. I would have loved for us to start that series with NM State, hopefully next year that can happen. At this point, with the majority of the decent programs in the West ducking us, Id be willing to bet that our remaining home games are filled with the Northeast Southern Central Tennessee State's of the world, along with one or two NAIA opponents amd maybe a UC Irvine or something. Great road schedule, crappy home schedule... it just has a very "Mid-Major" feel to it. It should be 5-6 home games ooc, not just 4. We already have 2 scheduled with St Mary and Wichita and he said he plans to buy 3 more, but said he would be willing to go on the road again to schedule a tough opponent, but if he can't find that, he will schedule another at home for 6. Maybe that rumored game with Nevada will still happen... or maybe we can get something going with Tulsa, or UTEP... even some more of the WCC opponents that we never really play, like Portland or USF. Im just hoping for one more solid home game.

Definitely our toughest OOC schedule top to bottom since Fisher's arrival. If we can get out of it with 2 losses I'd consider that pretty good. Even if we start the year ranked, I don't see us being ranked going into the conference. I think we'll probably lose 3-4 OOC games. Fisher's teams usually take time to gel and lose a few games they shouldn't in OOC. But its better to finish strong.

No more "mishaps" like last year at season's start getting pounded by St Marys. This team knows how to win, lets just hope they've been practicing their free throws.

this always happens. Growing pains. WE should not shy from it, even though our W-L record may look a little bit diffrent at the end of the season, there is definitely an upside.

The article says we need 3 more home and 1 more road game to complete the schedule. I would guess the 3 home games are cupcake games (and should be). Our schedule is tough enought and beating 3 'cupcakes' will not hurt it.
