Given the lack of overall athleticism I saw on the field last year, 8 wins would be a big stretch. Unless of course we had such an infusion of talent to support such a prediction. And I don't think we did.
One thing I will be looking for is how we play on special teams. I was thinking about that today during the Coryell services. Few people probably know or remember this, but Coryell's SDSU teams were deep and AWESOME on special teams. I remember the entire student section would really get ready for our kickoff team. That squad would absolutely murder the return man! I'd like to see that again, but we need some athletes to make it happen.

Playing in a bowl game is a nice present.
Winning a bowl game is an icing on the cake.

I think the team will be focused and ready to practice after the Coryell Memorial today. Every current Aztec should all realize that they are part of a great legacy. Coach Hoke needs to instill in his players that they need to live up to that legacy. Emotion is a big part of football and it wouldn't surprise me if this team wins 9 or 10 games this year. The talent is there, the coaching is there and it is time to win in spades. It's time to change the bong water, you're starting to hallucinate. ;D

Here is how I see it.
We have 6 games that we absolutely should win: -Nicholls State -@new Mexico St -Utah State -@new Mexico -Colorado St (this one may be tougher than most think, though) -UNLV
Then we have 4 games we, frankly, won't win (Call me a nay-sayer, it's just my estimation). -@mizzou -@byu -@tcu -Utah (We may have an outside shot at a win here, but I think Hoke needs at least 2 more years before we feel we can count on winning every home game)
So that leaves us with 2 up-in-the-air games: -@wyoming: tough to play at that elevation, especially if the Pokes continue to build on their momentum from last year. But last year's WYO game basically killed our season, so I expect the Aztecs to have this game marked on their calendar. -Air Force: I really think we should win this one, but I've learned not to hold my breath with SDSU football.
(assuming we win those 6 "easy" games) If we can win 1 of those 2 "up-in-the-air" games, the program is certainly headed in the right direction. If we win them both, we give Hoke an extension, or at least make sure he never has to buy his own beer in the offseason. If we lose them both, though, we shrug and hope we get into the New Mexico bowl.
