Just back from campus. Did the traditional scoping-out of the bookstore, and was happy to see, for the first time in years, RED GEAR!!
WooHoo.
I swear, intead of the Red & Black Attack, we could have been confused for a Depeche Mode concert... or the MAC Store.
Red shirts. Red hats. Red this and Red that.
Yes, there's still some black stuff in there for those of you who insist on going with the heavy, disassociated look.
What caught my eye... A VERY cool red hoodie with a moderate-size black piping around the shoulder with a good-size SDSU logo in the chest area. That's on the left side of the store, towards the back. And it's got the soft "comfy" material, rather than the scratchy stuff that sometimes comes with sweatshirts. Also, a really good-looking rugby-style shirt -- alternating red and white stripes -- towards the back right of the store.
Get 'em while they are hot!

Very Theodor Geisel of you. Red shirts. Red hats. Red this and Red that. Yes, that's my ode to Robert Palmer, the Duran Duran rejects, Tony Thompson, and whoever else made up the lineup for "The Power Station". My line above recalls the lyrics on a song that was on the same CD as their cover of "Bang a Gong" and whatever the hell the other hit was that they had. At any rate, they came up with... I do this And I do that And when it's cold I wear a hat I just don't understand why they never made it past the first album...

I knew my red gear would be back in style if I waited long enough.

There was some Swoosh stuff (actually, back where my red hoodie was). There was also some UnderArmor stuff right next to it -- unfortunately in all-black.

There are countless "RED and black" schools around. (A few too many in our own conference.) SDSU is one of the few "BLACK and red" programs around. Frankly, I'd like to see more black and gold with red highlights. I've seen plenty of gear (sweatshirts, tees, etc) that follow that scheme, but few Aztec teams that do it. The best I've seen it done is with Germany's World Cup kit this year. The font and overall design is pretty stupid, but I could not love this color scheme more. www.ecrater.com/p/7380533/09-11-germany-world-away-black-jersey-and**Multiple edits trying to make the link work. I failed.

My black with white Aztecs windbreaker jacket from 2001 (with the red Aztec face) is starting to tear a bit, so I checked out the bookstore yesterday for any windbreakers. I really liked the Nike black ones with red sides from this last year, but they're all out of those

Got a red hoody for my birthday this year. I like it a lot (and yes, John, it has some gold - you really need to stop being so rigid), but I still prefer black. At 60 I doubt I could be mistaken for a Goth or a fan of Depeche Mode but I just prefer black over red. Seems like every other team in college football wears red and quite frankly, I find a lot of it really ugly - see Fresno or Utah home uniforms, for example.
As dreadhawk wrote, our colors are black with some red, not red with a bit of black. Our team wears black, I wear black.

Black? Sorry, not me. I have some, but have more red. Red reminds me of the Aztecs human sacrifices. Just saying.
Anyone remember the Monty that would throw the burning spear towards the opposing bench? Always fun to watch the players react to that spear coming towards them. Always was short, but some guys moved. ;D Was that Tuffi?

+ 4, I would love to see The Aztec Warrior (Monty) throwing that burning spear again.
