When Faux News interviewed him last year, they described him as a "socially conscious rapper". This is nothing more than feigned moral outrage.

Obama's got a 60 percent approval rating at the moment (albeit, not on the economy) and the Republicants are behind the public opinion 8-ball on deconstructing Medicare and Medicaid, refusing to raise taxes on the rich and it appears they are fighting against doing away with oil company subsidies, which is something supported by 3/4 of the country. Social issues are all they have at this point. After bin Laden's execution and the balls Obama showed taking him out, they can't attack him for being weak on terrorism or leading from behind so this sort of nonsense is all they've got. Their base is requiring them to engage in nonsense such as deleting Planned Parenthood funding and introducing anti-choice bills (in 49 states at last count) while introducing any legislation related to jobs other than their worn out canard that cutting taxes for the rich will result in job growth. In the '90s the Republicants claimed the Democrats were out of ideas and they were correct in that assessment - 40 years controlling the House by either party does not advance democratic institutions or innovation. At this point, the Republicants are a one trick pony - tax breaks for the rich while dumping health care spending for the elderly, handicapped and poor. =Bob

How did this go from Police outrage over a rapper who lionizes a cop killer to a broken-record screed about a group not even involved in the story?

Somebody is always outraged over something.
They have to be. How else could FAUX get those cool ratings if they didn't rile up the easily manipulated?
Yoda out...

The original reports were from Police orgs who usually come out strong against Cop killers and their supporters. I get that. If folks want to skew the issue by politicizing or adding a strawman, as you are, then they are no better than those they are poking at. The issue wasn't political - it was one of propriety and elevating people by bringing them to the White House. People, as in this case, that prop up and honor a cop killer who fled to Cuba to evade prosecution. Pretty simple issue to me.

It doesn't matter what "Fox" says. I don't like it.

Cop killers and their supporters are not someone I want elevated in society. Mumia et al. Her being in Cuba just makes it easier...

I don't go to Jon Stewart or the Bill Mahers of the world for my news. Stewart is very eloquent and convincing in his manner, when if he is twisting, skewing, misrepresenting the other side. On issues I know about that he has spoken to, he is always patently wrong and purposefully misleading in his delivery. He does it well, to his credit. Fortunately, I can't get much streaming media here for a few reasons so I am not subjected to him and the others.

Before you express an opinion one way or the other you should read all of the lyrics of the song as opposed to a chunk pulled out by the AP.

Before you express an opinion one way or the other you should read all of the lyrics of the song as opposed to a chunk pulled out by the AP. Why? Because they're so profound? They are the rantings of an ill-educated, functionally retarded idiot. The embarrassing thing is that apparently our president thinks this moron has something of value to say. I highly encourage Barry n' Michelle to invite more of these semi-iterate ignoramuses to the White House. In fact, I think they should make it a regular thing. MSNBC could broadcast a weekly Hip-Hop White House Show. The real question is would Barry n' Michelle allow their daughters to listen to this poser fool. Yo Troy I'ma come on the rhythm with a little bit of Communism Yeah, hah So check it out, yeah Chick-a chick-a I'm Chick-a chick-a on Chick-a chick-a my my, own $#!+ Like an entrepeneur, that stepped in maneur man I'm newer than a Jack I went up the hill with Jill And Jack chills big bootay But then the booty up, I told the bitch she better have my money Or step to the AMG You know Com Sense, oh yeah him be That nigga that be making all the bid-by-by-bye sounds But since then, Common calm down! I'm on some calm $#!+ watch Com get complicated Simplemothertruckers say the way that Com communicated was too complex, I got a complex not to complain on my brain no complain and so will my community And I prefer compliments So I complement at an angle, of ninety degrees It's the ninties, and music got known for grease I got a sense of direction and a compass Come past MC's with compassion, though I heard the screams of But I ain't shy, so why shall I comfort Commiserate at the fort with Jeff I'm so ill But I chilled in my compartment with no company and no meals Now Com can get the panty, but I want my own company And Com is on a mission not to work for commission It's a common market and it's so much competition but to me, competition is none To my comp I'm a ton I get amped like Watts in a riot my compact disc is a commodity, so buy it Instead of competing with Pete Com compromised, Com made a promise Not to commercialize, but compound the soul without the elements, compelling sense into Communism Wow! Deep $#!+ man. I feel so mutafukin' enlightend. Idiot..

Before you express an opinion one way or the other you should read all of the lyrics of the song as opposed to a chunk pulled out by the AP. So, I can't express an opinion on a news story? Some folks here may disagree with that concept...some folks may have even given up some of their personal freedoms in order to protect that right. Of course, you've never offered an opinion on anything without fully researching it, hearing all sides, etc, right? Sure pal. The job of our media is to tell the story as best they can, I understand that and all evidence, none countered here, point to "Common" supporting and propping a cop killer in his music, one who fled to Cuba to avoid prosecution. All I've seen were people saying I should listen to a monologue by Jon Stewart and read the lyrics yet not bother telling me the essence of what they said. Smells fishy to me.
