Tongue in cheek I'm sure...All these dudes should be getting paid anyway. Safe to say SDSU made a ton of money off Marshall Faulk. How could you not like Marshall?

Marshall continues to do more for SDSU than just about any other alum.

Whether or not he was joking, it's something I can certainly understand having grown up in a working poor family. If I had been large and very talented, I'd have had serious trouble no taking big bucks if it had meant I could have gotten my mother out of her rotten job as a Woolworth sales clerk making minimum wage.
But really, Marshall could have gotten the big bucks from Miami and any number of other schools that offered him if he'd agreed to play DB so it wasn't just the weather that convinced him to come here. He recognized his talent and was confident he could make it as a running back and I suspect all those offers at DB pissed him off more than a little. He waited 3 years knowing that he would make a statement and get paid the big bucks in the NFL. That man is nobody's fool.

Had to be tounge in cheek. I just cannot imagine Marshall EVER saying he wishes he went to another school. One that paid him. I had a couple of chances to be around Marshall and he was an impressive kid. He really had his head on straight and I simply do not believe he made the statement attributed to him in the context it is presented. The Fred Noonan School of Navigation.

Despite Bob's worthwhile contribution, I do think that these comments, if Marshall really did make them, are unfortunate. But, of course, I'm a hopelessly old-fashioned sort of guy who believes in fair play and following the rules.

Much ado about nothing. Marshall was recruited by every major program in the south and I am sure he was offered coin along the way for his services. The money was obviously not enough to sway him.
In addition, I took his comments as to mean that State was clean and the other programs were dirty. I believe his tongue was firmly in cheek. JMO.

Bull!!! Just another 'I Made It Up' Internet blog pile. The exhumed body of George Washington revealed he had been impregnated by an extraterrestrial life form. It must be true, I read it in a blog.

Yeah, because a college degree is so cheap these days. SDSU can barely afford FB, they can't afford to pay players. Ha - the money they wasted on Chuck Long to sit around and do nothing last year could easily have been spread around to not just the F-ball players but all the student athletes who work so hard at their sport! I'm not just talking about SDSU - how about Texas and the tens of millions that football program brings in? Don't talk to me about education...no one involved with the BCS gives a rats a$$ about education.

It is a disturbing thing if true and not meant as a joke. Marshal has always been a supporter - at bball games and fball games and hosting benefits, etc that it seems uncharacteristic for him to basically disparage the university. Either way, oh well, such is sports.

he got a chance at SDSU and national recognition, and multi million dollar deals AFTER he went pro. That is a good deal for both Marshal and SDSU.
crappy artical.

I dont believe the article. It does match with Marshall's character. The FACTS are that Marshall is an honest, stand up guy with tons of integrity. He demonstrated that by being the premier back in College Football and staying clean. If he had been it for the money, he would have went to a program that plays that way (Miami, USC, Arkansas, etc.). He had his priorities straight and lived those out. Marshall continues to be a great contributer to SDSU, even when he doesn't have to be.
Thanks for all you've given to SDSU Marshall - we got your back!
