Here's the UT's list of high school recruits and the colleges they will attend. I know it's an incomplete list as a the son of a lady in my office just committed to play ball at Chico State. www.signonsandiego.com/news/2010/jun/11/the-next-level-local-college-recruits/Seems like a lot of schools recruit SD ballers. I know a few kids on that baseball list and they are players and they had options. I think SDSU did a good job.

hey southbaysucker. take a look at the list and tell me no talent in san diego. i guess we should let all of this talent get out of town to other schools. only reason football has to start recruiting out of town cause they sucked and no local coaches wanted to send their kids to sdsu. they have to re-build the local bridges for local football recruiting to blossom again. after the horrendous year last year i could forsee local recruiting being down as if you dont win they will go somewhere else. my son chose sdsu as a chance to help build a winning program here. with adequate pitching last year could have been much better. plenty of local talent that can do the job. maybe no one in your south bay area warrants recruiting to sdsu but that doesnt mean there isnt other talent in town......
I like Hoke's approach - recruit players from winning programs. .
But didnt former SDSU hedamen do the same? I mean ,Former football hc Denny Stoltz gave more aid to san diegans than the financial aid department and what did that get him? A first class ticket to oblivion! this is after going to the Holiday Bowl!!
a lot of that is out there. there needs to be hard practices but if i can quote the TCU coach we work hard in practice but the games are the reward. need to be loose and able to function during the game part and not wound up tight like a rubber band so you cant perform.
Again, this is an excuse.. Look, if a kid keeps missing ground balls, it doesnt matter if he is super intense or a loosey goosey-he just cant field .. If a kid continues to struggle at the plate, he just cant hit. Its the college game. Everyone practices , evenone tries. Not everyone has talent
I have never been a part of hit and giggle summer league or travel ball. my son always played for serious teams that had a lot of fun playing baseball and kicked ass and were not at all giggle ball.
The San Diego Show are an Epitome of a hit a giggle team.. Lots of aztecs have played on that team..At times they looked like a spoiled club team ready to go home from weekend tournament. Like their comatose MWC tourney effort!!

Agreed. Anyone familiar with travel ball in San Diego understands that there are all levels of quality play and coaching at all levels. An elite player can find an elite team. An elite recruit can even find a college summer travel ball club to play for. If thats the case Whaaa happened!? I dont know,.
you cant blame valenzuela for the staff this year cause it was inherited. he did the best with what he had to work with and i expect things to be better next year. he is a good pitching coach and we will see how good next year.
yeah --Coach Hill was in no hurry to prevent coach v from leaving USD. If anything SDSU needs an identity. It does nothing to just recruit.. got to recruit your system.

I think I know who you may be and who your kid is so I know you know the language. On that baseball list how many 40% or even 60 % kids do you see there? Some are underclassman so you never know what they will do.. And you should know that for most , half the "recruiting "battle is on the kid and family. how many of these schools actually RECRUITED these kids and how many are paying their own and will be just getting a hat?

CrackerBoy... That is a pretty good talent... It sounds like you wanted to play for The Show but got shown the door instead. Or your kid was not good enough to get a schoolie. STOP! being so bitter melon head my friend and move on.

that kid in high school may be a great kid all around but put them in a college atmosphere with all the new freedoms to do what you want just sometimes doesnt work out...... you can't tell who is going to do what especially with college kids. now lets get down to the quick. What is needed here is a coaching staff that melds the team as a cohesive unit that play as one. time for the program to evolve and grow. after 2 years involved in the program i have not seen any of the above...... cv - I can't help but comment on your quote.... I've been watching the program for 8 years and still haven't seen it evolve and grow. The 2010 recruit class is just another embarrassment in a series of disappointments. Sure, some programs lose a few guys but to have so many points a finger back to the coaches. CV, I appreciate your comments on the board and your willingness to share your observations. ba

I do agree with one point that south bay made. Practices are a time to work - period. I do not even like calling them practices - It's a workout! So now with all your work in, games are party time. A time to show off to your teamates all the hard work you have put in, relax, let the game come to you and have fun. It's a game right? Simple.

Pssst13 please turn off your Jonas Brothers Cd's, Put away your Ipod, go to the corner - count to ten, and let the big people talk first. As far as The Show is concern, my comment about them is not an indictment of that that particular club per se, but the whole daddyball club system in this town for of age kids, kids quite frankly need more to get better . The high school scene is so screwed up and convoluted, its really hard to say who is good and who is not.. But since you brought it up, you have to wonder about a program-sdsu- that draws from , attracks kids from that S@ t circus of an oganization
