We were either the first team, or among the first tems to offer Norman a sholarship. If anything, we were the first upper-tier team to offer him. I believe he had early offers from Fresno State and UTEP or Nevada as well, something like that. He has been soaring up the rankings and is considered the best athlete in the west (according to his profile on espn's rankings). I know a kid on his club team and he told me that some big time schools have been showing interest. Kansas, UCLA, Purdue, Syracuse, etc. I was told UCLA offered him last month or so. Here is a link to an article that discusses his current recruiting process. www.coast2coastrecruiting.net/2010/06/norman-powell-on-ucla-visit-and-new.htmlhave we offered any of them , or is it just the looking around time for most, who do UNM and UNLV have on their list

Needs to work on his jump shot, but he can take it to the rack against anyone.

I looked up Nick Kerr, SG (Torrey Pines) and Chen Cai PF (San Diego) but didn't see any schools listed. It might have been stated somewhere on here before but does anyone know if we offered these kids too?

Powell has Russell Westbrook athleticism. Needs to work on his jump shot, but he can take it to the rack against anyone. Powell along with LBF, Tapley, X-man, Rahon, Jamaal Franklin and a dominating big man would be a freak show. Throw in a Billy White-type recruit and it would be a freaky freak show. And assuming Leonard doesn't leave for the NBA after next year, look for clowns, elephants and sword eaters running around Viejas.

what are our chances of signing any of these 4 No idea but after losing Gay, Thomas, White, Carwell, Mehdi and possibly Leonard after this season, Fisher needs to reload - especially in the frontcourt. In reality, with Tapley, LBF, Rahon, Thames, JFranklin we are OK in the backcourt for at least 3 more years (including this season).

We might as well throw in some vuvuzelas (sp?) too! ;D Curious as to how those horns would sound in viejas or at the Q.

Alec Williams could play a huge role (pun intended) on our future teams, especially if we lose Leonard early to the pros. If Williams can lose a few lbs (25-40) and split time at both F positions, he would be extremely valuable on future teams and have a golden opportunity for big minutes.
He was listed at 268 as a freshman (which I assume was brutally accurate). If he comes in next year around 235, he might even earn minutes ahead of guys like Cheriet or Carlwell coming off the bench. However, if he comes in over 250, I doubt he sees the floor at all and Fisher starts suggesting that he look elsewhere for an opportunity to find minutes ...i.e. stop wasting our time and a scholarship by not taking this serious.

I think we can land one or two of these guys and then we will see a couple of transfers/JC's coming in.
Most likely big men.

what are our chances of signing any of these 4 I would think we have a better shot at Cain 6'7 PF and Caudill 6'11 C than the other 2. Cain has already visited and is clearly interested in SDSU but was also quoted that he was hoping to hear from Stanford (which is his 1st choice). However, Stanford's 09 class included 3 PF's and 1 C ... so they likley won't offer. Cain's also has interest from New Mex, but they don't have a roster to give, at this point. (Cain's uncle is M Slaughter which might also help) Caudill decomitted from ASU and has interest from a few pac-10 schools, but all of them but Cal have recently signed numerous bigs. His best opportunity for minutes is with SDSU. Both of these kids are true post players which is going to be our biggest need anyway. Anderson's game is similar to Alec William's in that he's more of a SF/wing than a post player and although Powell is extremely talented, he doesn't like playing D and is a SG ...which is our least needed position by far. (I would take any of the 4 in a heartbeat but Cain and Caudill fill our needs the most)

Westbrook's athleticism/jumper and Rondo's creativity with the ball.

Think about that. Only one Pac-10 player was drafted in the first two rounds. Same as the MWC. The WAC had four picks in the first two rounds. Conf. USA had two picks in the first two rounds. Nevada had two picks in the first two rounds, yet finished third in the WAC and lost in the second round of the NIT. No college senior was drafted for the first time since the lottery was instituted in 1985.
